  1. 1. Informell Statistisk Inferens i modelleringssituationer : En studie om utveckling av ett ramverk för att analysera hur elever uttrycker inferenser

    Författare :Per Blomberg; Per Nilsson; Jonas Bergman Ärlebäck; Andreas Ryve; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Conceptual framework; Data; Informal statistical inference; Modelling; Statistical inquiry; Statistics education; Pedometer; Use-Inspired Basic research; Begreppsramverk; Behovsmotiverad grundforskning; Modellering; Mätdata; Informell Statistisk Inferens; Statistisk undersökning; Statistikundervisning; Stegräknare; Mathematical Education; Matematikdidaktik;

    Sammanfattning : Syftet med denna studie är att bidra med ökad kunskap om lärande och undervisning i informell statistisk inferens. I studien användes en kvalitativ forskningsstrategi inriktad mot prövning och generering av teorier med inspiration av grounded theory. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Functional clustering methods and marital fertility modelling

    Författare :Per Arnqvist; Sara Sjöstedt de Luna; Leif Nilsson; Helle Sørensen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; censoring; Coale-Trussell model; EM-algorithm; functional data analysis; functional clustering; marital fertility; normal approximation; Poisson process; varved lake sediments; warping; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of two parts.The first part considers further development of a model used for marital fertility, the Coale-Trussell's fertility model, which is based on age-specific fertility rates. A new model is suggested using individual fertility data and a waiting time after pregnancies. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A Level-set Flamelet Library Model for Premixed Turbulent Combustion

    Författare :Per Nilsson; Strömningsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Termisk teknik; applied thermodynamics; Thermal engineering; Distance-function; Level-set; Flamelet Library; Flamelet; Turbulence; Premixed; Combustion; termodynamik; Gases; fluid dynamics; plasmas; Gaser; fluiddynamik; plasma; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem;

    Sammanfattning : The modelling of premixed turbulent combustion has been studied. Premixed turbulent combustion occurs in a range of applications, such as gas turbines and spark-ignition engines. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Exploring Probabilistic Reasoning : A Study of How Students Contextualise Compound Chance Encounters in Explorative Settings

    Författare :Per Nilsson; Inger Wistedt; Lennart Hellström; Dave Pratt; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Probabilistic reasoning; randomness; compound chance encounters; contextualisation; differentiation; elaborative variation.; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK; Matematikdidaktik; Mathematical Education;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at exploring how probabilistic reasoning arises in explorative learning situations that are random in nature. The focus is especially on what learners with scant experience of formal theories of probability do and can do when dealing with compound random situations in which they are offered opportunities to integrate different probabilistic lines of reasoning. 5. 5. Distributed Multiple Access and Service Differentiation Algorithms for Wireless Networks

    Författare :Thomas Nilsson; Per-Åke Wedin; Jerry Eriksson; Lennart Bondesson; Andrzej Duda; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wireless Local Area Networks; Medium Access Control; Quality of Service; Resource Allocation; IEEE 802.11; IEEE 802.11e; Datatransmission; Datatransmission;

    Sammanfattning : Communicating over a wireless channel poses many unique challenges not found in wired communication because of the special characteristics of the wireless channel. The capacity in a wireless network is typically scarce as a result of the limited bandwidth and many distinct phenomenons, like attenuation and interference, that work destructively on the received signals.
