16. Aerosol Particle Sources Affecting the Swedish Air Quality at Urban and Rural Level
Sammanfattning : During the last decades anthropogenic aerosol particles have attracted much attention due to their adverse health effects and their influence of climate change, and in Sweden, there are mainly three aerosol sources that affect the air quality; domestic wood combustion, traffic, and long distance transport, which includes new particle formation. This work concerns the characterization of these sources and an estimate of how much they contribute to the aerosol particle number (ToN) and mass concentrations (PM) in Swedish cities and at background locations. 17. Aerosol Metal Nanoparticles and their Role in Particle-Assisted Growth of III–V Nanowires
Sammanfattning : Semiconductor nanowires have properties that make them potentially useful for applications in future electronic, photovoltaic, and optoelectronic devices. A powerful nanowire fabrication technique is the use of a nanoparticle as a preferential nucleation site, from which a nanowire grows. LÄS MER
18. Measurement and Analysis of Intracardiac Blood Flow and Vortex Ring Formation
Sammanfattning : Increased understanding of the pumping mechanics of the heart are of great importance to develop diagnostics, treatment and prognostics for cardiovascular diseases. Blood flow in the heart is connected to its anatomy and function, and may therefore be a sensitive marker of cardiac health and disease. LÄS MER
19. Colloidal suspensions of mesostructured silica
Sammanfattning : Mesoporous silica is a porous material with walls made of silica and pores in the size range of 2-50 nm. Since the silica most often is amorphous, the material lacks short range order but the pores may be arranged in different structures generating a long-range order. LÄS MER
20. Thermodynamics and Structure of Plate-Like Particle Dispersions
Sammanfattning : A considerable amount of mineral particles are found to have a plate-like shape. The work in this thesis concerns theoretical investigations, using Monte Carlo method, of the properties of such particles in aqueous solutions. LÄS MER
