1. Development and Application of Reactor Noise Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : A number of problems in reactor noise diagnostics have been investigated within the framework of the present thesis. The six papers presented cover three relatively different areas, namely the use of analytical calculations of the neutron noise in simple reactor models, some aspects of boiling water reactor (BWR) stability and diagnostics of core barrel motion in pressurized water reactors (PWRs). 2. Developments and application of neutron noise diagnostics of sodium cooled fast reactors
Sammanfattning : The Sodium cooled Fast Reactor (SFR) is one of the six reactor types selected by the Generation-IV international forum (GIF), and the building of an industrial prototype is planned in France. The safety standard of the future SFR has to be equivalent to the EPR's. LÄS MER
3. A neutron noise solver based on a discrete ordinates method
Sammanfattning : A neutron noise transport modelling tool is presented in this thesis. The simulator allows to determine the static solution of a critical system and the neutron noise induced by a prescribed perturbation of the critical system. The simulator is based on the neutron balance equations in the frequency domain and for two-dimensional systems. LÄS MER
4. Investigation of a discrete ordinates method for neutron noise simulations in the frequency domain
Sammanfattning : During normal operations of a nuclear reactor, neutron flux measurements show small fluctuations around mean values, the so-called neutron noise. These fluctuations may be driven by a variety of perturbations, e.g., mechanical vibrations of core components. LÄS MER
5. Development of a Numerical Tool for Estimating the Neutron Noise in Nuclear Reactors
Sammanfattning : The neutron noise, i.e. the time-variations of the neutron flux around its meanvalue, can be used for obtaining important safety parameters in a nuclear reactor,e.g. LÄS MER
