1. Computational protein crystallography : How to get the most out of your data
Sammanfattning : It is important to obtain accurate three dimensional structures of molecules and proteins to understand and predict their function and behaviour. X-ray crystallography is the major technique to determine three dimensional structures of proteins. LÄS MER
2. Production of Perdeuterated Proteins in Escherichia coli for Structural Studies by Neutron Crystallography
Sammanfattning : Neutron macromolecular crystallography (NMX) is a complementary technique to X-ray crystallography leveraging neutron scattering properties of the hydrogen isotope deuterium (2H). Production of deuterium labelled molecules together with large crystal requirements for neutron crystallography are few of several bottlenecks limiting implementation of this technique for a wider range of proteins. 3. Crystallographic studies of non-equilibrium structural changes in cathode materials
Sammanfattning : Battery cathode materials are a key focus for improvement of Li-ion battery chemistries due their limits in terms of capacity and cost. During insertion and extraction of Li, many cathode materials exhibit structural changes, ranging from e.g. phase transitions to amorphization. LÄS MER
4. Bridging the gap between computational chemistry and macromolecular crystallography
Sammanfattning : Knowledge of the atomic structure of biomolecules, such as proteins, is paramount to understanding their function and interactions in the human body. For example, knowledge of the atomic structure of a target protein is crucial for developing drugs that bind strongly to it and thus help cure diverse diseases. LÄS MER
5. Regulation of glycerol efflux in adipocytes. Structural and functional studies of the glycerol channel aquaporin 7
Sammanfattning : Glycerol levels in adipocytes depend on the lipolysis, the hydrolysis of triglycerides into glycerol and free fatty acids, and the efflux of glycerol across the plasma membrane through glycerol channels. The aims of this work were to investigate how glycerol levels are regulated on a molecular level by PLIN1, a major lipid droplet-associated protein and a key regulator of the lipolysis by scaffolding for lipolytic proteins on the lipid droplet.
