6. Imaging brain functions during neuropsychological testing
Sammanfattning : This thesis has dealt with the development of tools for assessing cognitive functions(attention and working memory) using functional imaging and the evaluation of the modulatory effects of performance, nicotine, alcohol, brain injury and auditory interference. Two cognitive tasks commonly used in the assessment of patients with brain injury, the externally-generated Perceptual Maze Test (PMT) and an internally-generated arithmetical task, Serial-7, were used as activation paradigms. 7. Sensorimotor function following anterior cruciate ligament injury : movement control, proprioception and neuropsychological perspectives
Sammanfattning : Background: The high incidence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in sports suggests an involvement of both biomechanical and neurocognitive risk factors. Athletes are constantly exposed to challenging sports scenarios, which are often characterised by high-intensity movements combined with a multi-stimuli environment and continuous psychological pressure. 8. Aspects of Frontal and Medial Temporal Brain Functions : Neuropsychological and functional imaging studies in normals and in frontotemporal dementia
Sammanfattning : The thesis is based on five investigations. In the first study the nature and the degree of cognitive impairment of patients with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is explored. The results from neuropsychological assessment are described as three levels of cognitive impairment. LÄS MER
9. ´Personality in action´ : Strategy measurement in computerized neuropsychological tests
Sammanfattning : "Personality determines very largely the use a person makes of his intellectual gifts" (Eysenck, 1988). Computerization of neuropsychological tests has made possible a detailed analysis of both quantitative and qualitative aspects of a person´s test performance. LÄS MER
10. Cognitive and neuropsychological aspects of age-associated memory dysfunction
Sammanfattning : Memory dysfunction is common in association with the course of normal aging. Memory dysfunction is also obligatory in age-associated neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease. However, despite the ubiquitousness of age-related memory decline, several basic questions regarding this entity remain unanswered. LÄS MER
