  1. 1. Neurotrophic factors and neuronal plasticity

    Författare :Sten Linnarsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The neurotrophic factors were originally discovered because of their ability to rescue neurons during a period of naturally occurring programmed cell death. This gave rise to the neurotrophic factor hypothesis which states that specific target-derived factors protect and support subpopulations of innervating neurons, thereby regulating the pattern and quantity of innervation properly for each target tissue. 2. 2. Short- and long-term neuronal plasticity in hippocampal CA1 region of rat

    Författare :Fen-Sheng Huang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glutamate; hippocampus; plasticity; synapse; LTP; LTD; AMPA; NMDA;

    Sammanfattning : The brain is highly plastic, displaying both short- and long-term changes, resulting from developmental processes as well as learning and memory. Moreover, short-term plasticity such as paired pulse facilitation and depression (PPF, PPD) have long been used to monitor the presynaptic versus postsynaptic changes occurring during more lasting processes such as long-term potentiation and depression (LTP, LTD). 3. 3. Pharmacological and Developmental Aspects on Neuronal Plasticity

    Författare :Lisa Bjartmar; Jan Marcusson; Elias Eriksson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Neuronal plasticity means the ability of the brain, its cells and networks to adapt and adjust to new challenges, a process which is ongoing throughout life. The goal of this thesis was to gain better understanding of the molecular events that follow different types of stimulations of brain structures such as the hippocampus, a key region for cognitive functions with overriding control on the corticosteroid system. 4. 4. Circuit-level analyses of cortico-basal ganglia-thalamic networks. Effects of dopamine dysregulation and experience dependent plasticity

    Författare :Nedjeljka Ivica; Integrativ neurofysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :systems neurophysiology; multi-channel recording; motor control; Parkinson s disease; oscillations; dyskinesia; plasticity;

    Sammanfattning : The cortico-basal ganglia-thalamic (CBT) circuit is thought to be involved in control of voluntary and goal-directed movements and action selection. Dopamine is known to play a crucial role in this circuit and regulating its activity. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulations of neuronal plasticity by the Nogo system

    Författare :Gabriella Smedfors; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Our brain has a lifelong capacity to create new memories, to learn and to adapt. This is due to the ability of neurons to modify their signaling depending on the situation to which the nervous system is exposed. The neurons of the CNS have despite this plasticity, a very limited ability to grow and recover if damaged. LÄS MER
