  1. 16. Significance of white matter anatomy in interpreting features and behaviour of low-grade gliomas and implications for surgical treatment

    Författare :Francesco Latini; Mats Ryttlefors; Lorenzo Bello; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; White matter; Cerebral gliomas; DTI; Brain-Grid; Brain mapping; Human connectome project; Anatomi; Human Anatomy; Oncology; Onkologi; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery; Radiology; Radiologi; Neurology; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : Diffuse gliomas are extremely heterogeneous tumours characterized by slow growth but extensive infiltration. Their kinetic features reflect the complex interaction over time with the surrounding brain, influencing treatment planning and outcome. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Short- and long-term consequences of sport-related concussion

    Författare :Fredrik Vedung; Niklas Marklund; Gunnar Antoni; Elna-Marie Larsson; Jakob Johansson; Alexander Olsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sport-related concussion; Soccer; Traumatic brain injury; tau; neuroinflammation; cerebral blood flow; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Sammanfattning : Concussions are common in contact sports. Symptoms such as confusion and/or loss of consciousness following an impact to the head indicate that a sport-related concussion (SRC) has occurred. The symptoms normally resolve within 10-14 days following an SRC in adults although at least 10 % of athletes suffer from prolonged symptoms. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Delayed Cell Death after Traumatic Brain Injury : Role of Reactive Oxygen Species

    Författare :Fredrik Clausen; Lars Hillered; Tiit Mathiesen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; Traumatic Brain Injury; Reactive oxygen species; Fluid percussion injury; Controlled cortical impact; weight drop injury; Extracellular-signal regulated kinase; apoptosis; free radical scavenging; morphology; functional outcome; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of death and disability TBI survivors often suffer from severe disturbances of cognition, memory and emotions. Improving the treatment is of great importance, but as of yet no specific neuroprotective treatment has been found. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Secondary Insults in Neurointensive Care of Patients with Traumatic Brain Injury

    Författare :Kristin Elf; Per Enblad; Pelle Nilsson; Elisabeth Ronne-Engström; Bertil Romner; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of death and disability. Intracranial secondary insults (e.g. intracranial haematoma, brain oedema) and systemic secondary insults (e. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Changing strategies in the treatment of aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage : challenging the second bleed

    Författare :Steen M. Fridriksson; Jens Astrup; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Despite considerable advances in the management of aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) over the past decades, the overall outcome is still disappointing. Currently, not more than six patients out of every ten with a ruptured aneurysm, reaching hospital alive, will recover to a normal life. LÄS MER
