  1. 6. Brain Structure and Function in Adolescents with Atypical Anorexia Nervosa

    Författare :Gaia Olivo; Helgi B. Schiöth; Christian Benedict; Jessica Mwinyi; Andreas Jansen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MRI; functional MRI; fMRI; magnetic resonance imaging; neuroimaging; brain imaging; anorexia nervosa; eating disorders; neuroscience; adolescents; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Atypical anorexia nervosa (AAN) has a high incidence in adolescents, resulting in significant morbidity and mortality. The weight loss is generally less pronounced than that experienced in full-syndrome anorexia nervosa (AN), but the medical consequences can be as severe. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Neuroimaging biomarkers in Alzheimer’s disease

    Författare :Farshad Falahati Asrami; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is characterized by an accumulation of abnormal plaques and tangles in the brain, a process that is estimated to begin years before the appearance of clinical symptoms. Individuals with subjective memory decline (SMD) or mild cognitive impairment (MCI) run a higher risk of developing AD than cognitively normal (CN) people. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Blood flow assessment in cerebral arteries with 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging : an automatic atlas-based approach

    Författare :Tora Dunås; Anders Eklund; Anders Wåhlin; Jan Malm; Einar Heiberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Circle of Willis; 4D flow MRI; Cerebral arteries; Vascular disease; Stroke; Automatic labeling; Probabilistic atlas; Cerebral blood flow; Neuroimaging; Magnetic Resonance Imaging;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Disturbed blood flow to the brain has been associated with several neurological diseases, from stroke and vascular diseases to Alzheimer’s and cognitive decline. To determine the cerebral arterial blood flow distribution, measurements are needed in both distal and proximal arteries. LÄS MER

  4. 9. PET and the Multitracer Concept: An Approach to Neuroimaging Pathology

    Författare :Henry Engler; Bengt Långström; Göran Hedenstierna; Juha Rinne; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Neurosciences; PET Positron Emission Tomography ; multitracer; neuroimaging pathology; astrocytes; microglia; neurodegeneration; amyloid; AD; CJD; PD; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Patients suffering from different forms of neurodegenerative diseases, such as: Creutzfeldt Jacob Disease (CJD), Alzheimer disease (AD), mild cognitive impairment (MCI), frontotemporal dementia and Parkinson’s disease (PD) were examined with Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and the combination of different radiotracers: 15O-water, N-[11C-methyl]-L-deuterodeprenyl (DED), [18F] 2-fluorodeoxyglucose: (FDG), N-methyl-[11C]2-(4-methylaminophenyl)-6-hydroxybenzothiazole (PIB) and L-[11C]-3,4-dihydroxiphenyl-alanine (DOPA). The radiotracers and the combinations of different radiotracers were selected with the intention to detect, in the brain, patterns of neuronal dysfunction, astrocytosis, axon degeneration or protein aggregation (amyloid), in the brain which are pathognomonic for specific diseases and may contribute to improve clinical differential diagnoses. 5. 10. Social Phobia. From Epidemiology to Brain Function

    Författare :Tomas Furmark; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Anxiety; brain; epidemiology; fear; neuroimaging; neurotransmitters; positron emission tomography; prevalence; serotonin; social phobia; subtypes; treatment; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Social phobia is a disabling anxiety disorder characterized by an excessive fear of negative evaluation in social situations. The present thesis explored the epidemiology and neurobiology of the disorder. By means of a mailed questionnaire, the point prevalence of social phobia in the Swedish general population was estimated at 15.6%. LÄS MER
