  1. 16. Managing the flows? Furthering a socio-material flow methodology for industrial ecology

    Författare :Mathias Lindkvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; industrial ecology; actor-network-theory ANT ; methodology; action nets; socio-material; field studies; conceptualisation; material flow; review; life cycle assessment LCA ;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation defends the thesis that application of the socio-material methodology that I present can assist environmentally more effective decision-making. The methodology provides a recipe for a systematic and accurate understanding of how human actions determine environmental impacts via material (tangible) flows. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Discovering Contiguous Sequential Patterns in Network-Constrained Movement

    Författare :Can Yang; Yifang Ban; Gyözö Gidofalvi; Xiaoliang Ma; Clas Rydergren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; map matching; trajectory pattern mining; closed contiguous sequential pattern mining; trajectory pattern visualization; Geodesy and Geoinformatics; Geodesi och geoinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : A large proportion of movement in urban area is constrained to a road network such as pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle. That movement information is commonly collected by Global Positioning System (GPS) sensor, which has generated large collections of trajectories. LÄS MER

  3. 18. A Model for Simulation of Fiber Suspension Flows

    Författare :David Hammarström; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :rheology; fiber; suspension; CFD; model; wall; slip; turbulence;

    Sammanfattning : The fiber suspensions in the production line from wood topaper are subjected to many types of chemical and mechanicalprocesses, in which the flow of the suspension is of vitalimportance. The flow of the suspension determines the degree ofuniformity of the fibers through the processing, which inreturn affects the properties of the fiber suspension. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Experimental Studies of Complex Flows through Image-Based Techniques

    Författare :Gabriele Bellani; FredrIk Lundell; James Olsen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the development of experimental techniques for the study of complex flows inspired to a large extent by the papermaking process. In particular one part of this thesis is devoted to the development of laboratory experiments based on index-of-refraction matching and imaging techniques to study the behavior of dilute and concentrated suspension of elongated particles. 5. 20. Probing-Based Approaches to Bandwidth Measurements and Network Path Emulation

    Författare :Bob Melander; Constantinos Dovrolis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datavetenskap; Datavetenskap; Computer Science;

    Sammanfattning : The current Internet design is based on a number of principles and paradigms. A central theme of these is that the interior of the network should provide a very simple but generic (and optimized) service, namely best-effort packet forwarding. LÄS MER
