  1. 1. Transcription factors regulating the Btk promoter

    Författare :Susanne Müller; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Btk; X-linked agammaglobulinemia; transcription factors; repression; synergism; Sp 1; Sp3; PU.l; Spi-B; genetherapy.;

    Sammanfattning : Bruton's agammaglobulinemia tyrosine kinase (Btk) is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase-related to the Src family of kinases. Mutations in various parts of the gene have been shown to lead to X-linked agammaglobulinemia, an immunodeficiency disease which is characterized by a defect in B-cell development. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Carboxyl Ester Lipase Gene. Organization, Evolution and Transcriptional Regulation in Exocrine Pancreas and Mammary Gland

    Författare :Ulf Lidberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NF-1; pseudogene; evolution; pancreas; carboxyl ester lipase; regulation; duplication; promoter; enhancer; locus; gene structure; mammary gland;

    Sammanfattning : The carboxyl ester lipase (CEL) is an important enzyme for the intestinal absorption of dietary lipids. In humans the gene is highly expressed in exocrine pancreas and in the lactating mammary gland. It is secreted in an inactive form and becomes activated by bile salts in the intestine. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The estrogen receptor gene : promoter organization and expression

    Författare :Kaj Grandien; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :estrogen receptor; alternative promoters; gene expression; translation;

    Sammanfattning : The estrogen receptor (ER) is a ligand-activated transcription factor and a member of a large family of nuclear hormone receptors. As a mediator of estrogen hormone action, the ER is involved in many important physiological processes. ER gene expression has been demonstrated to be restricted to certain tissues and under complex hormonal control. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Promoter mutations/methylation in thyroid and urothelial carcinomas : biological and clinical implications

    Författare :Xiangling Xing; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Genetic and epigenetic aberrations are well established to drive cancer development and progression. However, the underlying mechanisms are incompletely understood, and the translational applications of aberrant alterations are limited in gene non-coding regions, such as the promoter locus. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) : promoter mutation and novel function in human cancer

    Författare :Tiantian Liu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) is the catalytic component of telomerase, an RNAdependent DNA polymerase responsible for telomere elongation. TERT is transcriptionally repressed in most normal human somatic cells with limited life-span, which contributes to telomerase silence. LÄS MER
