1. Sensory neuronal protection & improving regeneration after peripheral nerve injury
Sammanfattning : Peripheral nerve trauma is a common cause of considerable functional morbidity, and healthcare expenditure. Particularly in the ~15% of injuries unsuitable for primary repair, standard clinical management results in inadequate sensory restitution in the majority of cases, despite the rigorous application of complex microsurgical techniques. 2. Molecular factors influencing nerve growth : studies on the developing rodent trigeminal ganglion and tooth pulp
Sammanfattning : The adult tooth pulp has a rich protective sensory innervation from the trigeminal ganglion (TG). The developmental establishment of this exclusively nociceptive innervation is not fully understood today. LÄS MER
3. Simplified Routines for Sample Preparation and Analysis of Chemical Warfare Agent Degradation Products
Sammanfattning : The thesis describes the development of new and improved methods for analyzing degradation markers from organophosphorus Chemical Warfare Agents (CWAs). Paper I and II describes an innovative and significantly improved method for the enrichment, derivatization (trimethysilylation) and GC-MS analysis of a broad range of organophosphorus CWAs degradation markers, namely the alkylphosphonic acids and a zwitterionic compound. 4. Route attribution of chemical warfare agents : Retrospective classification of unknown threat samples
Sammanfattning : Although chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are prohibited under international law, there have been numerous crimes that violates the 1997 Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) during the last decade, especially in the civil war in Syria where sarin, mustard gas and chlorine have all been used. CWAs have also been used in political assassinations and attempts thereof. LÄS MER
5. Mechanisms and improvements of cell transplantation for nerve repair
Sammanfattning : Trauma to the nervous system is a frequent clinical problem and new approaches to nerve repair are required. Autologous cell transplantation together with a suitable scaffold material could be used to create a bio-active artificial nerve graft to enhance regeneration. LÄS MER
