    Författare :Björn Strander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia; cytology; colposcopy; HPV; cervical neoplasm; epidemiology; treatment; follow up;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: The aim of this study is to target and assess possible improvements for women attending cervical cancer screening programs. Methods: In a randomized study the use of ThinPrep liquid based cytology (LBC) was tested against conventional cytology. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Interval cancers, positive predictive value for malignance and other early quality indicators in mammographic screening for breast cancer

    Författare :Bedrich Vitak; Ingvar Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Mammography; Breast neoplasm; Breast cancer screening; Interval breast cancer; Metastasis; Mortality; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The study was designed to evaluate early quality indicators in screening for breast cancer. lt comprised, (i) investigations of compliance, recall, referral, cancer detection, and interval cancer rates in the Östergötland screening programme of women aged 40-74 years; (ii) evaluation of the three-stage diagnostic procedure for pre-operative assessment of women with suspicious mammographic findings; (iii) comprehensive analysis of all invasive interval cancers detected; and (iv) investigation into how to reduce the number of interval cancers without a concomitant increase in false positives. 3. 18. Rectal Cancer and Quality of Life. Aspects on Communication and Patient Education

    Författare :Sofie Walming; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rectal neoplasm; quality of life; colorectal surgery; patient education; patient care bundles;

    Sammanfattning : Background This thesis reports the results of three studies based on a pro-spective cohort study of an unselected population of patients with rectal cancer, and one study based on an exploratory study of a new patient edu-cation method as preparation for colorectal cancer surgery. The aim of study I was to investigate whether patient’s or doctor’s delay had an impact on quality of life at diagnosis, and in study III the development of quality of life after treatment for rectal cancer was investigated. 4. 19. New Roles of Filamins in Cell Signaling, Transcription and Organ Development

    Författare :Xianghua Zhou; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :filamins; cell movement; hypoxia-inducible factor 1; proto-oncogene proteins c-met; mice; knockout; F-actin-binding proteins; integrins; GTB phosphohydrolases; genetic diseases; inborn; vascular endothelial cell growth factor A; Smad2 protein; hepatocyte growth factor; cartilage; osteogenesis; neovascularization; neoplasm metastasis;

    Sammanfattning : Filamins are large actin-binding proteins that stabilize delicate three-dimensional actin networks and link them to cellular membranes. They integrate cell architectural and signaling functions and are essential for cell locomotion and development. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Incidentally detected adrenal lesions - radiological aspects

    Författare :Lilian Hammarstedt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Incidental finding; Adrenal incidentaloma; Adrenal Gland Neoplasm; Computed Tomography; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Follow-up Studies; Oncology; Observer variation; Phantom Studies;

    Sammanfattning : Incidentally detected adrenal lesions (“adrenal incidentalomas”) have become a growing clinical problem due to increased and refined radiology methods. Autopsy studies show frequencies as high as 7-8% in the elderly. A large part of such lesions give no health problems but some can be related to hormone overproduction or malignant disease. LÄS MER
