  1. 16. Wood-fibre composites : Stress transfer and hygroexpansion

    Författare :Karin M. Almgren; Kristofer Gamstedt; Véronique Michaud; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Wood fibres is a type of natural fibres suitable for composite applications. The abundance of wood in Swedish forests makes wood-fibre composites a new and interesting application for the Swedish pulp and paper industry. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Characterisation of Dietary Fibre Properties to Optimise the Effects on Human Metabolism and the Transcriptome

    Författare :Matilda Ulmius; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; field-flow fractionation; gastrointestinal method; aggregation; solubilisation; pectin; β-glucan; sugar beet fibre; Oats; rye; postprandial responses; microarray gene expression;

    Sammanfattning : It is well established that dietary fibre, especially soluble dietary fibre, has beneficial effects and can prevent diseases associated with the modern lifestyle. This has been explained by the viscous effects of soluble fibre, which can reduce or delay the absorption of carbohydrates and fat in the small intestine, resulting in lower blood concentrations of glucose, insulin and cholesterol. 3. 18. On the Modelling of Mechanical Dewatering in Papermaking

    Författare :Vinicius Lobosco; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; paper; modelling; dewatering; forming; wet pressing; fibre network stress; rheology; hysteresis; intra-fibre water; compressibility; structural stress; stress-strain; restricted gels; swelling;

    Sammanfattning : Most of the water fed into a paper machine is removedmechanically in the forming and press sections. One of thefactor which has an important influence on mechanicaldewatering, i.e. in both forming and pressing, is thestress-strain behaviour of the fibre network. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Fibre-Optic Displacement and Temperature Sensing Using Coupling Based Intensity Modulation and Polarisation Modulation Techniques

    Författare :Johan Jason; Hans-Erik Nilsson; Bertil Arvidsson; Werner Daum; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optical fibre sensor; displacement measurement; temperature measurement; fibre coupling; intensity modulation; birefringence; polarisation; OTDR; side-hole fibre;

    Sammanfattning : Optical fibre sensors are employed in the measurements of a number of different physical properties or for event detection in safety and security systems. In those environments which suffer from electromagnetic disturbance, in harsh environments where electronics cannot survive and in applications in favour of distributed detection, fibre-optic sensors have found natural areas of use. 5. 20. Modification of fluff pulp fibres: Cross-linking and alkali extraction

    Författare :Kristoffer Lund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fibre network; dry defibration; network strength; fluff pulp; Absorption; cross-linking; alkali extraction; kraft pulp;

    Sammanfattning : Fluff pulp has been one of the key components of hygienic products, such as diapers, for many years. Fluff pulp is dry defibrated and air-laid into the absorption core of diapers. The introduction of superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) in the 1980s decreased the dependence on fluff pulp, as the SAPs became the main absorbing material. LÄS MER
