6. Algorithms for aggregate information extraction from sequences
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we propose efficient algorithms for aggregate information extraction from sequences and multidimensional arrays. The algorithms proposed are applicable in several important areas, including large databases and DNA sequence segmentation. LÄS MER
7. Alkylglucosides - physical chemical properties
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to characterise the physical-chemical properties of alkylglucosides. Alkylglucosides are non-ionic surfactants synthesized from glucose and a fatty alcohol. The glucose molecule constitutes the hydrophilic head group and the fatty alcohol constitutes the hydrophobic tail. LÄS MER
8. Stress response regulation and protein aggregate inheritance in Caulobacter crescentus
Sammanfattning : Many stress conditions a cell encounters threaten the continuation of basic biological processes ultimately endangering its survival. Heat shock and antibiotic exposure can lead to a sudden surge of protein un- and misfolding, while nutrient starvation directly causes a lack of energy and molecular building blocks. LÄS MER
9. Adsorption at the Solid-Liquid Interface: An Atomic Force Microscopy Study
Sammanfattning : The aim of the work presented in this thesis was to investigate nature of adsorption of amphiphiles to the solid–liquid interface. The surface aggregate structures of the zwitterionic surfactant dodecyldimethylammoniopropanesulfonate, (DDAPS) and a series of nonionic polyoxyethlylene glycol alkyl ethers (C10E5, C12E5, C12E8, C10E6, C14E6 and C16E6) have been determined by Atomic Force Microscopy on solids of different hydrophobicity. 10. Metamorphism in the roots of mountain belts and its effect on rock technical properties : A case study of the Eastern Segment, Sveconorwegian orogen
Sammanfattning : Deciphering the metamorphic evolution of the roots of mountain belts is essential for understanding deep tectonic processes involved in mountain building. The Sveconorwegian orogen in southwestern Scandinavia, formed during the Rodinia assembly in the transition between the Mesoproterozoic and Neoproterozoic Eras, has been exhumed and provides access to interior deep structural levels of the ancient mountain belt.
