11. Neuroendocrine Stress Response after Burn Trauma
Sammanfattning : Some aspects of the stress response during acute intensive care for severe burns are described and quantified by measuring hormonal and neuroendocrine patterns and relating these to organ function in the short term. This includes an assessment of whether there are markers for the severity of stress that are better than conventional descriptors of the severity of a burn in predicting failing organ function. 12. Markers of hemodynamic state and heart failure as predictors for outcome in cardiac surgery : with special reference to mixed venous oxygen saturation and natriuretic peptides
Sammanfattning : Postoperative heart failure or low cardiac output syndrome is the major cause for morbidity and mortality in cardiac surgery. Unfortunately commonly used methods to assess hemodynamic state and heart failure are not well documented with regard to outcome. LÄS MER
13. The endocrine heart - metabolic actions of atrial natriuretic peptide
Sammanfattning : Abstract The natriuretic peptides (NPs), namely atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and bran natriuretic peptide (BNP), which are secreted from cardiomyocytes in response to cardiac wall stress, play a significant role in the regulation of blood pressure, intravascular volume, and cardiac remodeling. Recently, NPs emerged as hormones with metabolic actions such as inhibition of the renin-angiotensin system and inhibition of inflammation, together with lipolysis and adipose tissue browning. 14. Preeclampsia – Studies on the Placenta and B-type Natriuretic Peptide
Sammanfattning : Preeclampsia has several pathophysiological pathways, but the placenta has a central role. The pathophysiology appears to differ between the two subtypes – early- and late-onset preeclampsia. LÄS MER
15. Cardiovascular risk factors in renal artery stenosis : Effects of renal angioplasty and angiotensin II receptor antagonism
Sammanfattning : Renovascular hypertension (RVH) caused by atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis (ARAS) is one of the most common forms of secondary hypertension. The prognosis for patients with RVH is much worse compared to patients with primary hypertension, and caused by a high cardiovascular morbidity. LÄS MER
