6. Electronic properties of intrinsic defects and impurities in GaN
Sammanfattning : With its outstanding properties such as a wide direct bandgap (3.4 eV), high electron mobility and high breakdown voltage, GaN and its alloys with In and Al are considered as one of the most important semiconductors for optoelectronic devices and high-power and high-frequency transistors. 7. Magnetism in Band Gap Engineered Sputtered MgxZn(1-x)O Thin Films
Sammanfattning : This dissertation presents a comprehensive study of the intrinsic room temperature ferromagnetism, RTFM, in technologically important thin films of ZnO, MgO, Mg@ZnO, the so-called d0–magnets that do not contain any intrinsic magnetic elements. We also present the first report on magnetism in Mn doped MgO films fabricated by dc magnetron sputtering. LÄS MER
8. Toward the Optimization of Low-temperature Solution-based Synthesis of ZnO Nanostructures for Device Applications
Sammanfattning : One-dimensional (1D) nanostructures (NSs) of Zinc Oxide (ZnO) such as nanorods (NRs) have recently attracted considerable research attention due to their potential for the development of optoelectronic devices such as ultraviolet (UV) photodetectors and light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The potential of ZnO NRs in all these applications, however, would require synthesis of high crystal quality ZnO NRs with precise control over the optical and electronic properties. LÄS MER
9. Investigation of deep levels in bulk GaN
Sammanfattning : The first gallium nitride (GaN) crystal was grown by hydride vapor phase epitaxy in 1969 by Maruska and Tietjen and since then, there has been an intensive development of the field, especially after the ground breaking discoveries concerning growth and p-type doping of GaN done by the 2014 year Nobel Laureates in Physics, Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura. GaN and its alloys with In and Al belong to a semiconductor group which is referred as the III-nitrides. LÄS MER
10. Studies on various culture systems for chondrocytes and osteoblasts
Sammanfattning : Osteoarthritis and osteochondral defects are ailments that are increasing in frequency as the lifespan of the population increases and sedentary lifestyle becomes more common. Osteoarthritis is an inflammatory disease that causes the progressive degeneration of articular surfaces and the underlying bone. LÄS MER
