6. Nanostructured Cellulose Biocomposites : Effects from dispersion, network and interface
Sammanfattning : The major load bearing component in native wood, cellulose nanofibrils, are potential candidates for use as reinforcement in polymer matrices. This study is based on nanocellulose composites and attempts to prepare and characterize biocomposites with high nanocellulose content and investigate the influence of nanostructure on macroscopic properties. 7. Charge Transport Properties in Nanostructured Electrodes of Metal Oxides
Sammanfattning : In the last decade research in the field of nanostructured metal oxide thin film electrodes for various applications, e.g., solar cells and hydrogen production, has been of great interest. In this thesis, interfacial and bulk electrochemical properties and charge transport properties of nanostructured thin films have been investigated. LÄS MER
8. Fundamental in-situ and ex-situ studies of energy storage related materials including different applications of voltammetry
Sammanfattning : This thesis is a summary and discussion of eight papers dealing with failures and structural aspects of Ni-Cd industrial pocket plate batteries, applications of voltammetry in adsorption studies on goethite (a-FeOOH) surfaces and synthesis and characterisation of nanostructured carbons. The work consists of different areas of chemistry; electrochemistry, structural chemistry and solution chemistry. LÄS MER
9. Bright Lights: Innovative Micro- and Nano-Patterning for Sensing and Tissue Engineering
Sammanfattning : Light is the primary source of energy on our planet and has been a significant driver in the evolution of human society and technology. Light finds applications in two-dimensional (2D) photolithography and three-dimensional (3D) printing, where a pattern is transferred to a material of interest by ultraviolet (UV) light exposure, and in laser scribing and cutting, where high power lasers are used to pattern the surface of objects or cut through the bulk of the material of interest. 10. Reactions on nanostructured and microporous surfaces
Sammanfattning : Interactions between surfaces and molecules play a central role in various fields where catalysis is one example. In order to understand different surface processes, physicochemical characterisation of the surface materials and molecules is required. LÄS MER
