  1. 1. Anomalies in humoral immunity in the NOD mouse contribution to the progression of type 1 diabetes

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå University

    Författare :Radha Thyagarajan; Umeå universitet.; [2016]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 Diabetes; NOD mouse; B cells; IgE; TACI; BAFF; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : The non-obese diabetic (NOD) mouse is widely used model Type 1 diabetes (T1D), a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by destruction of the insulin producing β cells in the islets of Langerhans by immune cells. The classical symptoms include increased glucose levels in urine and blood, frequent urination and enhanced thirst. LÄS MER

  2. 2. B cell deviations and type 1 diabetes in the NOD mouse

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå Universitet

    Författare :Mia Sundström; Umeå universitet.; [2012]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; Autoimmunity; NOD mouse; Idd; TACI; Immune response; Immune complex; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the insulin producing β-cells in the pancreatic islets of Langerhans are selectively attacked by the immune system. The β-cells are destroyed resulting in a reduced or eliminated insulin production, which in turn lead to a high blood glucose level. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Functional studies of candidate genes contributing to type 1 diabetes in the NOD mouse

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Medicinsk biovetenskap

    Författare :Marie Lundholm; Umeå universitet.; Umeå universitet.; [2009]
    Nyckelord :Type 1 Diabetes; NOD mouse; CTLA-4; Ctex; CD3ζ; apoptosis; Idd6; Lrmp; medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disorder caused by both genetic and environmental factors. The non-obese diabetic (NOD) mouse is one of the best and most commonly studied animal models for T1D. This mouse strain spontaneously develops diabetes through a process that closely resembles the human pathogenesis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Metab-Immune analysis of the non-obese diabetic mouse

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå University

    Författare :Viqar Banday; Umeå universitet.; [2016]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NOD mouse; Type 1 diabetes; B cells; glutamic acid; metabolomics; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1A diabetes mellitus or T1D is a chronic disease characterized by T cell mediated destruction of the insulin producing β cells in the islets of Langerhans. The classical symptoms include high glucose levels in urine and blood, polyuria, and polydipsia. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The genetic basis of T and B cell contribution to autoimmune diabetes in NOD mice

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Medicinsk biovetenskap

    Författare :Vinícius Motta; Umeå universitet.; [2006]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 Diabetes; NOD mouse; CTLA-4; superantigen; T cells; Idd; marginal zone B cells; embryo aggregation chimera; negative selection; MEDICINE Microbiology; immunology; infectious diseases Immunology Immunogenetics; MEDICIN Mikrobiologi; immunologi; infektionssjukdomar Immunologi Immungenetik;

    Sammanfattning : The nonobese diabetic mouse (NOD) is an excellent animal model to study type 1 diabetes. As with some humans, disease in the NOD mouse is effected by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. At least 20 insulin dependent diabetes (Idd) susceptibility loci have been identified so far, both in humans and in the NOD mouse. LÄS MER
