  1. 1. Mechanisms of TRAIL- and Smac mimetic-induced cell death and phenotypical changes in breast cancer

    Författare :Victoria Granqvist; Avdelningen för translationell cancerforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast Cancer; TRAIL; Smac mimetics; Cell death; interferon beta; NF-kappa B;

  2. 2. Repression of transcription factor NF-[kappa]B by glucocorticoids : a molecular mechanism for their anti-inflammatory and immuno-modulatory effects

    Författare :Johan Lidén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : It has been known since the late 1940s that glucocorticoids (GCs) possess anti-inflammatory activity. Their various uses in the clinic include treatment of, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma and AIM skin diseases and also as means for avoiding rejection during transplantation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Regulation of IgG subclass switching in human B cells

    Författare :Qiang Pan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Human IgG can be subdivided into four subclasses, each encoded by a separate heavy chain constant (CH) region gene and endowed with unique biological and functional properties. Deficiencies of single or multiple IgG subclasses have been suggested to be associated with increased susceptibility to recurrent infections in humans. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Inducible nitric oxide synthase : in vascular smooth muscle cells

    Författare :Zhong-qun Yan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :nitric oxide; nitric oxide synthase; vascular smooth muscle cells; transcriptional regulation; NF-[kappa]B; I[kappa]B; pathophysiological role;

    Sammanfattning : Besides the constitutively expressed nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in endothelial cells, vascular smooth muscle cells (SMC) have the potential to express the inducible isoform of NOS (iNOS). Given the important effects of nitric oxide and the high output of this enzyme, expression of iNOS in SMC and its pathophysiological significance were investigated in the present study. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Human insulin-like growth factor binding protein-4 and -6 : gene structure and transcription regulation

    Författare :Henric Zazzi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :IGF binding proteins IGFBP ; DNA sequencing; chromosomal localization; gene expression; Sp I; NF-kappa-B; methylation;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin-like growth factors (IGF-I and IGF-II) are among the more abundant growth factors isolated from bone tissue and are synthesized by various bone cells including osteoblasts. The activity of IGFs is controlled by a family of binding proteins (IGFBPs) divided into subfamilies depending on their individual affinity for IGFs. LÄS MER
