  1. 16. Manganese and Iron Heterodimers and Homodimers in Enzymes : Insights from Density Functional Theory

    Författare :Katarina Roos; Per Siegbahn; Margareta R. A. Blomberg; Frank Neese; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ribonucleotide reductase; manganese; iron; density functional theory; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The enzyme ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) catalyzes the reduction of ribonucleotides to deoxyribonucleotides, the building blocks of DNA, and is essential for all organisms. Canonical class I RNR R2 proteins use a diiron cofactor to generate a tyrosyl radical, which is required for catalysis. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Prevention of hemolysis as a novel strategy to limit hemoglobin-mediated lipid oxidation in fish - towards a more sustainable use of fish raw materials

    Författare :Semhar Ghirmai; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hemoglobin; herring Clupea harengus ; fish; rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss ; erythrocyte; hemolysis; side-stream; antioxidant; lipid oxidation; blood plasma;

    Sammanfattning : Hemoglobin (Hb) has been recognized as a main pro-oxidant in fish, causing fast and intense lipid oxidation. This thesis explores the hypothesis that maintaining red blood cells (RBCs) intact for an extended time during fish processing could delay Hb-mediated lipid oxidation. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Imaging mass spectrometry for in situ lipidomics: from cell structures to cardiac tissue

    Författare :Sanna Sämfors; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Sammanfattning : Computational modeling is becoming an increasingly integral part of (bio)chemistry, providing a powerful complementary view into the dynamics, binding, and reactivity of biochemical systems. In particular, molecular simulations based on multiscale models are now regularly employed in studies of enzymatic reactions, offering invaluable mechanistic insight through the lens of molecular energy landscapes. 5. 20. Protein and lipid interactions within the respiratory chain : Studies using membrane-mimetic systems

    Författare :Tobias Nilsson; Peter Brzezinski; Petra Hellwig; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cytochrome c oxidase; ATP synthase; Bioenergetics; membrane-mimetics; Rcf1; liposomes; oxidative phosphorylation; lipids; protein-protein interactions; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Energy conversion from nutrients to ATP is a vital process in cells. The process, called oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) is performed by a combination of membrane-bound proteins. These proteins have been studied in great detail in the past, however much is still unknown about how they interact with each other. LÄS MER
