21. Magnetic fields around massive protostars as traced by masers and dust emission
Sammanfattning : It is not fully clear how the magnetic field acts during the first stages of star formation. A possible way to clarify its role is to observe the polarized light coming from masers and thermal dust emission. LÄS MER
22. Doing Physics - Doing Gender : An Exploration of Physics Students' Identity Constitution in the Context of Laboratory Work
Sammanfattning : In Sweden today women are greatly under-represented within university physics and the discipline of physics is also symbolically associated with men and masculinity. This motivates in-depth investigations of issues of physics, learning and gender. LÄS MER
23. Three-nucleon forces in nuclear physics simulations
Sammanfattning : The aim of this licentiate thesis is to evaluate the normal-ordered two-body (NO2B)-approximation as a computationally promising way to incorporate realistic three-nucleon forces (3NFs) in nuclear many-body simulations using the no-core-shell-model. The existence and importance of 3NFs is predicted in chiral effective field theories of the strong-nuclear force. LÄS MER
24. Nonlinear Beam Physics
Sammanfattning : A condensed treatment of conventional beam physics (both linear and nonlinear) is given for the non-expert; this constitutes a minimum knowhow for constructing simulations of rudimentary beamlines. The criteria for an ideal nonlinear charged-particle simulation algorithm are then presented, leading to the derivation of a symplectic, explicit, Lorentz-covariant integrator. LÄS MER
25. Development of theoretical approaches for post-silicon information processing
Sammanfattning : Despite knowing the fundamental equations in most of the physics research areas, still there is an unceasing need for theoretical method development, thanks to the more and more challenging problems addressed by the research community. The investigation of post-silicon, non-classical information processing is one of the new and rapidly developing areas that requires tremendous amount of theoretical support, new understanding, and accurate theoretical predictions.
