21. Exploring the structure of oligo- and polysaccharides : Synthesis and NMR spectroscopy studies
Sammanfattning : A deeper understanding of the diversity of carbohydrates and the many applications of oligo- and polysaccharides found in nature are of high interest. Many of the processes involving carbohydrates affect our everyday life. This thesis is based on six papers all contributing to an extended perspective of carbohydrate property and functionality. 22. Dynamic Covalent Resolution: Applications in System Screening and Asymmetric Synthesis
Sammanfattning : Combined thermodynamic/kinetic events amount to a kinetically controlled Dynamic Combinatorial Resolution (DCR) process, where the lability of themolecules/aggregates are used to generate dynamics, and the species experiencing the lowest activation energy is selected via kinetic process. Bothinter- and intramolecular processes can be performed using this concept, resulting in complete resolution and associated amplification of the selected species. LÄS MER
23. Synthesis of Ring-fused Peptidomimetics : Interacting with Amyloid Fibrils
Sammanfattning : Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease are the two most common neurological disorders in humans. Both conditions involve progressive death of neurons in the central nervous system, decline in bodily functions and eventually (and invariably), death. So far, no cure exists and the available treatments can only ease symptoms. LÄS MER
24. Design, Synthesis and Properties of Organic Sensitizers for Dye Sensitized Solar Cells
Sammanfattning : This thesis gives a detailed description of the design and synthesis of new organic sensitizers for Dye sensitized Solar Cells (DSCs). It is divided in 7 chapters, where the first gives an introduction to the field of DSCs and the synthesis of organic sensitizers. LÄS MER
25. Functional and Modular As=C and P=C Group Motifs
Sammanfattning : This work focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application projections of low-coordinated heavy pnictogen-containing (described by the generic letter E, hence E=C) phosphaalkenes (P=C) and arsaalkenes (As=C), with emphasis on the E=C group motifs. The work aims to understand their functional and modular character, reactivity, and potential applications by stabilizing, isolating, and characterizing these species in low-coordination environments.
