1. Passage mellan medier : Vilém Flusser, datorn och skriften
Sammanfattning : This thesis is about Vilém Flusser (1920-1991), a philosopher of the media who was best known in the German-speaking world during the 1980s. Hitherto, penetrating studies that show Flusser’s dependence on the idea-historical contexts in which his thought took shape have been lacking. LÄS MER
2. Approximation of Infinitely Divisible Random Variables with Application to the Simulation of Stochastic Processes
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four papers A, B, C and D. Paper A and B treats the simulation of stochastic differential equations (SDEs). The research presented therein was triggered by the fact that there were not any efficient implementations of the higher order methods for simulating SDEs. LÄS MER
3. New weighted inequalities with applications to pseudodifferential operators
Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to weighted integral inequalities and their applications to the study of boundary behavior of solutions to Dirichlet's problem for fractional powers of the Laplacian. We obtain a necessary and sufficient condition on μ for the operator (—Δ)μin R 0 , 0 ... 4. Integrating food production and biodiversity : energy and scale issues in implementation
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to test the hypotheses that (1) biodiversity at a farm level differs between small and large farms, and (2) it is possible to combine high biodiversity at farm level with high food production, sustainable nutrient circulation, and self-sufficiency in fuels. In the research area in SE Sweden, six small farms (135 ha) were selected for the studies. LÄS MER
5. Boundary Value Problems for Nonlinear Elliptic Equations in Divergence Form
Sammanfattning : The thesis consists of three papers focussing on the study of nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations in a nonempty open subset Ω of the n-dimensional Euclidean space Rn. We study the existence and uniqueness of the solutions, as well as their behaviour near the boundary of Ω. LÄS MER
