  1. 1. New tools for sample preparation and instrumental analysis of dioxins in environmental samples

    Författare :Lan Do; Peter Haglund; Staffan Lundstedt; Eric Reiner; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PCDD Fs; dioxins; pressurized liquid extraction; PLE; selective SPLE; modular M-PLE; soil; sediment; sludge; gas chromatography; new stationary phases; multivariate data analysis; selectivity; interaction; Environmental Science; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs), two groups of structurally related chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbons, are of high concern due to their global distribution and extreme toxicity. Since they occur at very low levels, their analysis is complex, challenging and hence there is a need for efficient, reliable and rapid alternative analytical methods. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Synthesis of Substituted Alkanethiols Intended for Protein Immobilization : Chelate Associated Photochemistry (CAP)

    Författare :Lan Bui; Peter Konradsson; Bo Liedberg; Markus Hederos; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : The first and main part of this thesis is focused on the design and synthesis of photo-activableand metal chelating alkanethiols. Chelate associated photochemistry (CAP) is a novel conceptof combining two well-known protein (ligand) immobilization strategies to obtain a sensorsurface of covalently bound ligand with defined orientation. 3. 3. On avoiding and completing colorings

    Författare :Lan Anh Pham; Klas Markström; Carl Johan Casselgren; Victor Falgas-Ravry; Roland Häggkvist; Kimmo Eriksson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Graph coloring; precoloring; list assignment;

    Sammanfattning : All of my papers are related to the problem of avoiding and completing an edge precoloring of a graph. In more detail, given a graph G and a partial proper edge precoloring φ of G and a list assignment L for every non-colored edge of G, can we extend φ to a proper edge coloring of G which avoids L? In Paper I, G is the d-dimensional hypercube graph Qd, a partial proper edge precoloring φ and a list assignment L must satisfy certain sparsity conditions. 4. 4. Health professionals’ experiences and views related to obstetric ultrasound in Rwanda and Vietnam

    Författare :Sophia Holmlund; Ingrid Mogren; Joseph Ntaganira; Pham Thi Lan; Kristina Edvardsson; Susanne Georgsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Prenatal ultrasonography; pregnancy; midwife; obstetrician; health personnel; health professional; prenatal care; epidemiology; cross-sectional study; focus group discussion; qualitative content analysis; Rwanda; Vietnam; obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Sammanfattning : BackgroundObstetric ultrasound has become an indispensable part of maternity care in high-income countries, where it is universally used for screening, diagnostic and surveillance purposes. In low-income countries, insufficient numbers of trained health professionals’ is commonly a barrier to obstetric ultrasound use. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Histamine receptors and neuropeptides in the cranial circulation

    Författare :Anders Ottosson; Rättsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurology; Human - arteries - CGRP - SP - mast cells; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The sensory neuropeptides substance P (SP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) are present in human cerebral, meningeal and temporal arteries, as are peptides associated with the sympathetic (neuropeptide Y, NPY) and parasympathetic (vasoactive intestinal peptide, VIP) nervous system. NPY is a vasoconstrictor in cerebral and meningeal arteries and potentiates noradrenaline (NA) as a vasoconstrictor in temporal arteries. LÄS MER
