1. Ectomycorrhizal fungi: Their role in nitrogen retention and carbon sequestration in northern coniferous forests
Sammanfattning : Almost all northern forest tree species live in symbioses with ectomycorrhizal fungi (EMF). The trees allocate up to half of the photoassimilated carbon (C) through the roots to EMF. In return EMF deliver nutrients from both inorganic and organic sources in the soil, as well as water. LÄS MER
2. Vertical Heterostructure III-V MOSFETs for CMOS, RF and Memory Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses mainly on the co-integration of vertical nanowiren-type InAs and p-type GaSb MOSFETs on Si (Paper I & II), whereMOVPE grown vertical InAs-GaSb heterostructure nanowires areused for realizing monolithically integrated and co-processed all-III-V CMOS.Utilizing a bottom-up approach based on MOVPE grown nanowires enablesdesign flexibilities, such as in-situ doping and heterostructure formation, which serves to reduce the amount of mask steps during fabrication. 3. Fishing for ways to thrive : Integrating zooarchaeology to understand subsistence strategies and their implications among Early and Middle Mesolithic southern Scandinavian foragers
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate and deduce the varied lifeways of Early Holocene foragers in southern Scandinavia. By taking an interdisciplinary approach, zooarchaeological data have been applied to the study of different aspects of Early and Middle Mesolithic subsistence, in order to frame a discussion concerning our current understanding of culture and life in early north European societies. 4. Explorations of boron-based materials through theoretical simulations
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on boron-based materials, notable for their structural complexity and unique combination of ceramic and metallic properties. These properties typically result in materials with high mechanical strength, electrical conductivity, and melting points. LÄS MER
5. Oncological safety and health-related quality of life after reconstructive breast cancer surgery
Sammanfattning : The main aim of this thesis was to gain knowledge about the oncological safety of nipple- sparing mastectomy (NSM) with immediate implant-based reconstruction and delayed Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator (DIEP) flap breast reconstruction. In this context, we also considered the impact of discrepancies in socioeconomic status (SES) and comorbidity. LÄS MER
