11. Methods for detection and prevention of monocular and binocular visual impairment in childhood
Sammanfattning : The main causes for monocular visual loss in childhood are amblyopia and injury, and in the case of poor vision in both eyes refractive errors, the principle cause being myopia. Reliable visual acuity testing, reaching children at as young an age as possible, is essential in detecting these conditions and monitoring their treatment. LÄS MER
12. Peripheral Vision : Adaptive Optics and Psychophysics
Sammanfattning : This thesis is about our peripheral vision. Peripheral vision is poor compared to central vision, due to both neural and optical factors. The optical factors include astigmatism, defocus and higher order aberrations consisting mainly of coma. Neurally, the density of ganglion cells decreases towards the periphery, which limits the sampling density. LÄS MER
13. Peripheral Optics of the Human Eye:Applied Wavefront Analysis
14. Refractive surgery with the ArF excimer laser (photorefractive keratectomy) : surgical technique, wound healing and refractive results
Sammanfattning : Excimer lasers have been adapted to treat refractive errors in the human eye since 1987. By remodeling the corneal surface, myopia and astigmatism can be corrected. The investigations herein were performed during a time period when the surgical technique development was extensive. LÄS MER
15. Ophthalmological aspects of prematurity
Sammanfattning : In a prospective, population-based study of a weIl defined geographical area in Sweden, an ROP incidence of 40.4% was found among 260 prematurely born infants with a birth weight of 1500 grams or less. Cryotherapy was performed in 10.8% of the infants. LÄS MER
