Sammanfattning : The dissertation demonstrates how it is possible to apply the French philosopher Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutics to a musical work-of-art and illustrates the approach with an interpretation of Schubert's Great C-major Symphony (D 944). Arguments are put forward to show that the meaning of a musical work-of-art can be naively grasped under favourable communicative conditions. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : In twentieth-century music scholarship, those of Franz Schubert’s songs from the 1810s that form sectional musical structures have normally been presented as being unfortunately dependent on aesthetically disparaged eighteenth-century models.
