11. Numerical Modeling of Atomization in Spray Systems
Sammanfattning : Dispersed multiphase flows refer to dynamic systems comprising two or more phases where at least one phase is in the form of fine particles evolving in and interacting with a surrounding fluid. Spray systems fall into that category. LÄS MER
12. Experimental Studies of Primary Break-up of Diesel Engine Fuel Injector Sprays
Sammanfattning : This thesis will focus on experimental studies of primary breakup of pressure-atomized sprays. The industrial application that this thesis will address is fuel sprays in modern Diesel engines, and so the focus will be sprays emitting into relatively slow-moving, high pressure, high-temperature gases. 13. Fluid Dynamics and Granular Growth in High Shear Wet Granulation
Sammanfattning : High shear wet granulation is a key step in the manufacturing of tablets in the pharmaceutical industry. From the pharmaceutical industry’s point of view, there is a desire for predictive quantitative process models to be able to make in-silico process and scale-up simulations, which would shorten and reduce the cost of technology transfer from laboratory scale to manufacturing scale in drug development. 14. Fluid dynamics and flow structures of wood fibres suspended in gas flows
Sammanfattning : The flow of wood fibres suspended in gas plays a major role in the MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) production process. Development of machinery in this industry has traditionally been based on experience. Only recently has the use of numerical methods such as CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) become an important part of the development process. LÄS MER
15. A Realizable Hybrid Mixture-Bubble Model for Cavitating Flows
Sammanfattning : Cavitating multi-phase flows include an extensive range of cavity structures with different length scales, from micro bubbles to large sheet cavities that may fully cover the surface of a device. To avoid high computational expenses, incompressible transport equation models are considered a practical option for simulation of large scale cavitating flows, normally with limited representation of the small scale vapour structures.
