  1. 16. Detection and classification of sea ice from spaceborne multi-frequency synthetic aperture radar imagery and radar altimetry

    Författare :Wiebke Aldenhoff; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Beaufort Sea; sea ice classification; sea ice; sea ice concentration; Fram Strait; SAR imaging; radar altimetry;

    Sammanfattning : The sea ice cover in the Arctic is undergoing drastic changes. Since the start of satellite observations by microwave remote sensing in the late 1970's, the maximum summer sea ice extent has been decreasing and thereby causing a generally thinner and younger sea ice cover. 2. 17. Sea Ice Concentration Estimation and Ice Type Classification from Dual-Frequency Satellite Synthetic Aperture Radar

    Författare :Wiebke Aldenhoff; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sea ice concentration; sea ice; SAR imaging; sea ice classification; Fram Strait;

    Sammanfattning : The sea ice cover in the Arctic has undergone dramatic changes in recent years. The perennial sea ice extent is decreasing by 12.2 % per decade while annual mean sea ice thickness has decreased by more than 2 m for the central Arctic Basin from 1975 to 2012. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Study on the Earth’s Surface Mass Variations using Satellite Gravimetry Observations

    Författare :Hadi Amin; Mohammad Bagherbandi; Lars Sjöberg; Faramarz Nilfouroushan; Martin Horwath; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; geodetic reference system; geoid potential; global vertical datum; climate change; global warming; mass change; ice melting; sea-level change; remote sensing; satellite gravimetry; geodetiska referenssystem; geopotential; globala vertikala datum; klimatförändring; global uppvärmning; massförändring; issmältning; havsnivåförändring; fjärranalys; satellitgravimetri;

    Sammanfattning : Our complex planet is continuously undergoing temporal and spatial changes. In this context, ongoing processes in the Earth subsystems (geosphere, biosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere) cause changes in the gravity field of the Earth across a wide range of temporal and spatial scales. 4. 19. Assessing Mineral Resource Scarcity in a Circular Economy Context

    Författare :Hampus André; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; resource-efficiency; area of protection - natural resources; electric and electronic equipment; supply risk; scarce metals; criticality assessment; material flow analysis; life cycle assessment; circular economy; complex products;

    Sammanfattning : Due to humanity’s dependence on metal resources there are growing concerns regarding impacts related to their potential scarcity, both for current and future generations. The vision of a more circular economy suggests that extending the functional use of metals through measures aiming for resource-efficiency (RE) such as increasing technical lifetime, repairing and recycling could reduce mineral resource scarcity. 5. 20. Studies of Volcanic Plumes with Remote Spectroscopic Sensing Techniques -DOAS and FTIR measurements on volcanoes of the Network for Observation of Volcanic and Atmospheric Change-

    Författare :Santiago Arellano; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; FTIR; Remote Sensing; DOAS; NOVAC; Volcanic gas emissions;

    Sammanfattning : Volcanism is a rich geodynamical process, closely linked to the origin and ongoing evolution of the lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere. Humans have benefited from the resources provided by volcanoes but also been threatened by the dangers of volcanic eruptions, which accurate prediction remains elusive. LÄS MER
