1. Antibiotic Resistance in Wastewater : Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)and antibiotic resistance genes
Sammanfattning : A large part of the antibiotics consumed ends up in wastewater, and in the wastewater the antibiotics may exert selective pressure for or maintain resistance among microorganisms. Antibiotic resistant bacteria and genes encoding antibiotic resistance are commonly detected in wastewater, often at higher rates and concentrations compared to surface water. LÄS MER
2. MRSA and other resistant bacteria : prevalence, patient and staff experiences, wounds and infection control
Sammanfattning : Antibiotic resistance has become a major and serious global problem in healthcare. Limited treatment options for infections caused by these organisms can lead to increased morbidity and mortality. LÄS MER
3. Consequences of meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) acquisition. Patient experiences and interactions in health care and daily life
Sammanfattning : Aims. The overall purpose of this thesis was to follow up the consequences of guidelines installed to prevent transmission of MRSA in healthcare from the patients’ point of view and subsequent consequences for everyday life. Methods. Patients infected with MRSA during two time-periods were studied. LÄS MER
4. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) an Unclear and Untoward Issue : Patient-Professional Interactions, Experiences, Attitudes and Responsibility
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the present thesis was to investigate experiences of living with multidrug-resistant bacteria (MDRB), using methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) colonization as an illustration, and to develop and validate a tool to describe healthcare personnel’s attitudes towards patients with MDRB. A further objective was to study MRSA-colonized persons’ and healthcare personnel’s experiences of patient-professional interactions and responsibilities for infection prevention. LÄS MER
