21. Development of Zonal Models for Analysis of Engine Knock
Sammanfattning : Autoignition in SI engines is an abnormal combustion mode and may lead to engine knock which is an undesired phenomenon in SI engines. It may cause damage and it is a source of noise in engines. Knock limits the compression ratio of the engine and a low compression ratio means low fuel conversion efficiency of the engine. LÄS MER
22. Closed-Loop Combustion Control of a Multi Cylinder HCCI Engine using Variable Compression Ratio and Fast Thermal Management
Sammanfattning : The current Spark Ignited (SI) engine equipped with three-way catalyst offers low emissions, but has low efficiency at part load, which results in unnecessarily high CO2 emissions. The Compression Ignited (CI) engines have higher efficiency and hence lower CO2 emissions, but suffer from higher Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) and Particulate Matter (PM) emissions, and no three-way catalyst can be used. 23. Investigation of Emission Characteristics for Diluted Flames and Renewable Fuels in Gas Turbine Combustors
Sammanfattning : Gas turbines have served as economically profitable and reliable generators of power for the past few decades, and have mainly been used in simple and combined cycles. The increased restrictions on hazardous emissions and the increased demand for profitability have created new prospects for innovative power cycles. LÄS MER
24. Laser Diagnostics of HCCI and Partially Premixed Combustion
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis deals with measuring in-cylinder combustion species and events using different laser-based diagnostic methods. A variety of engine operating modes, like HCCI and partially premixed diesel combustion, have been investigated. LÄS MER
25. Characterization of the Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition Combustion Process
Sammanfattning : The main objective of this project was to characterize the HCCI combustion process. Central parts in the project were the progress of the HCCI combustion process, the influence of charge homogeneity on the combustion process and sources of UHC and CO emissions in HCCI combustion.
