    Sammanfattning : Development and application of some laser techniques for the study of engine combustion are presented. The investigations mainly cover two aspects: fuel dynamics and formation of NO. LÄS MER

  3. 3. In-Cylinder Fluid Flow, Fuel Preparation and Combustion in SI Engines - Application of Optical Diagnostics

    Författare :Martin Ekenberg; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Laserteknik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; hydraulik; Maskinteknik; PIV; vibration and acoustic engineering; hydraulics; vacuum technology; Mechanical engineering; framdrivningssystem; Laser technology;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis laser-based measurements of in-cylinder flow and fuel concentrations in two stroke and direct injected four-stroke engines are presented. The major problem with the carburetted two-stroke engine is the short-circuiting of fuel that occurs during the scavenging phase. This leads to large emissions of unburned hydrocarbons. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Laser Spectroscopic Techniques for Combustion Diagnostics Directed Towards Industrial Applications

    Författare :Hans Seyfried; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Teknik; Technological sciences; Fysik; Physics; Combustion; Gas turbine; HCCI; Engine; High-Speed; Thermographic phosphors; PLIF; LIF; Laser Diagnostics; Laser-Induced Fluorescence; Laser technology; Laserteknik; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem;

    Sammanfattning : In the work presented in the thesis, different laser spectroscopic techniques were utilized for measurement of species concentrations, as well as for surface thermometry. Experiments were conducted in various combustion environments, ranging from laboratory burners to truck-sized internal combustion (IC) engines, gas turbine combustors and a full-size aircraft turbofan engine. Sammanfattning : The laser-induced incandescence technique (LII) is a laser-based diagnostic technique for measurements of soot volume fraction and particle size. The technique relies on detection of incandescent light from soot particles heated to around 4000 K using nanosecond laser pulses. LÄS MER
