  1. 1. Monocytes and Neutrophils in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

    Författare :Tobias Schmidt; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Monocytes; Neutrophils; juvenile idiopathic arthritis; rheumatology;

    Sammanfattning : Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is a heterogenous inflammatory joint disease and the most commonrheumatic disease in children. Oligoarticular JIA (oJIA) is the major subgroup, which mainly affects fewand large joints, such as the knee. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Monocytes, Tissue Factor and Heparin-coated Surfaces : Clinical and Experimental Studies

    Författare :Matilda Johnell; Agneta Siegbahn; Rolf Larsson; Jesper Swedenborg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; monocytes; tissue factor; heparin-coated surfaces; coagulation; inflammation; thrombin; cytokines; cardiopulmonary bypass; biocompatibility; migration; chemotaxis; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is associated with inflammatory response and activation of coagulation. Heparin coating of the CPB circuit is shown to improve the biocompatibility of the surface. The biological effects of a new heparin surface, the Corline Heparin Surface (CHS), prepared according to a new principle, have been studied. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Monocytes and macrophages, with a focus of Crohn's disease

    Författare :Susanne Thiesen; Internmedicin - epidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Crohn s disease; Cystatin C; Cytokines; Intestine; Macrophages; Monocytes; Gene-expression;

    Sammanfattning : Monocytes and macrophages are part of the body’s first line of defense, eliminating pathogens by phagocytosis or by releasing a broad array of inflammatory mediators, such as cytokines, chemokines and proteases. In humans, three subsets of monocytes are described with seemingly different functions. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Microbial and maternal influences on allergic sensitization during childhood: defining a role for monocytes

    Författare :Shanie Saghafian Hedengren; Eva Sverremark-Ekström; Susan Prescott; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Monocytes; allergic sensitization; maternal allergy; Toll-like receptor; p38-MAPK; IL-6; Epstein-Barr virus; early-life microbial exposure; NK cells; IFN-γ; Immunology; Immunologi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Allergic diseases are influenced by genetics and the environment. Maternal allergy appears to confer a higher risk for allergic sensitization than paternal allergy, suggesting an in utero influence. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Studies of prostaglandin E2 formationin human monocytes

    Författare :Sofia Karlsson; Jonny Wijkander; Christina Gustafson-Svärd; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; prostaglandin E2; arachidonic acid; phospholipase A2; cyclooxygenase; prostaglandin E synthase; human monocytes; Medical cell biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi; Biomedical Sciences; Biomedicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Prostaglandin (PG) E2 is an eicosanoid derived from the polyunsaturated twenty carbon fatty acid arachidonic acid (AA). PGE2 has physiological as well as pathophysiological functions and is known to be a key mediator of inflammatory responses. LÄS MER
