16. Signal Transduction in Malignant Cells – Transformation, Activation and Differentiation
Sammanfattning : All aspects of cell life are regulated by signal transduction mechanisms. This thesis describes the regulatory roles of a few key signal transduction molecules involved in three major biological responses. LÄS MER
17. Radiolabelled Oligonucleotides for Evaluation of in vivo Hybridisation Utilising PET Methodology
Sammanfattning : Antisense oligonucleotides (ODN) may interfere in gene expression on the basis of hybridising to its complementary messenger RNA (mRNA) sequence in the cell thereby preventing the synthesis of the peptide. Therefore, these ODNs may be potential drugs to treat human diseases by “knocking down” the expression of responsible genes or correcting the maturation process of mRNA in the field called antisense therapy. 18. Microarray Technology for Genotyping in Pharmacogenetics
Sammanfattning : The studies in this thesis describe the development of a microarray based minisequencing system and its application to highly parallel genotyping of single nucleotide polymorphisms. The technical developments included identification of a three-dimensional microarray surface coating with high binding capacity for oligonucleotides modified with amino groups as the most optimal one for the system. 19. Methods for Analysis of Disease Associated Genomic Sequence Variation
Sammanfattning : In Molecular Medicine a wide range of methods are applied to analyze the genome to find genetic predictors of human disease. Apart from predisposing disease, genetic variations may also serve as genetic markers in the search for factors underlying complex diseases. LÄS MER
20. On CD4+ T Lymphocytes in Solid Tumours
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with recognition and elimination of tumours by T lymphocytes and their use in adoptive immunotherapy. The first tumour-draining lymph node; the sentinel node, is identified by peritumoural injection of a tracer. This is the hypothesised location for the activation of tumour-reactive lymphocytes. LÄS MER
