1. Molecular filtration : the study of adsorbents
Sammanfattning : Adsorbent materials for gas purification have been studied and developed for application in many areas. It is known that a single adsorbent may not adequately control multiple contaminants. Therefore, the development of adsorbent materials has accelerated over the past two decades, and is today an area attracting a lot of attention. LÄS MER
2. The effects of glucocorticoids on brown fat : physiological and molecular studies
Sammanfattning : Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is the main site for non-shivering thermogenesis in most mammals. The BAT-specific uncoupling protein-1 (UCP1) uncouples substrate oxidation from ATP production and hereby decreases metabolic efficiency. LÄS MER
3. Influences of in vivo and in vitro loading on the proteoglycan synthesis of articular cartilage chondrocytes
Sammanfattning : In this study, the biosynthesis of proteoglycans (PGs) was examined in articular cartilage of canine hip joint after long-distance running experiment and in bovine chondrocyte cultures during in vitro loading with hydrostatic pressure. In addition, new assays were developed for more sensitive quantitation of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and PGs. LÄS MER
4. Molecular Recognition Studies Based on Imprinting Technology
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I have focused on five main research areas: 1). A new type of imprinted polymer has been developed, namely the amide MIP. The amide functional monomers showed better hydrogen bonding capabilities in polar organic solvents and the resulting polymers exhibited good enantiomeric recognition properties in organic media. 5. On the Design of Affibody Molecules for Radiolabeling and In Vivo Molecular Imaging
Sammanfattning : Affibody molecules have lately shown great potential as tools for in vivo molecular imaging. These small, 3-helical bundles, with their highly stable protein scaffold, are well suited for the often harsh conditions of radiolabeling. LÄS MER
