  1. 6. Visualization of Protein Activity Status in situ Using Proximity Ligation Assays

    Författare :Malin Jarvius; Ulf Landegren; Ola Söderberg; Hans van Dam; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; proximity ligation; in situ; high content screening; platelet-derived growth factor receptor; rolling circle amplification; protein interactions; in situ PLA; post-translational modifications; drug screening; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : In 2001 the human proteome organization (HUPO) was created with the ambition to identify and characterize all proteins encoded in the human genome according to several criteria; their expression levels in different tissues and under different conditions; the sub-cellular localization; post-translational modifications; interactions, and if possible also the relationship between their structure and function.When the knowledge of different proteins and their potential interactions increases, so does the need for methods able to unravel the nature of molecular processes in cells and organized tissues, and ultimately for clinical use in samples obtained from patients. 2. 7. Molecular mechanisms in cervical carcinogenesis : Studies of clonality, somatic genetic alterations and human papillomavirus variants in cervical pre-invasive and invasive cancer

    Författare :Zhongmin Guo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; cervical cancer; CIN; clonality; X-chromosome inactivation; LOH; HPV; chromosome 3p; chromosome 6; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cervical cancer derives from a series of pre-invasive cervical neoplastic lesions termed CIN I-III (Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia) via typical multiple-step processes. In contrast to premalignant disorders in other organs, different degrees of CIN possess a distinct biological behaviour where a proportion spontaneously regress or persist, whereas some progress to invasive cancer. 3. 8. Molecular biological techniques as a tool in diagnostic pathology : Applications in B-cell lymphoproliferative disease, medullary thyroid carcinoma and cervical carcinoma

    Författare :Mansour Alemi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; PCR-SSCP; MTC; RET mutation; Lymphoma; HPV; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Identification of malignancy associated with mutations in gene sequences requires detection ofas little as a single base difference. A powerful technique in mutation detection is polymerasechain reaction (PCR) followed by single-strand conformational polymorphism (SSCP) andsequencing. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Angiogenic growth factors : mechanism of action and function in vascular development

    Författare :Charlotte Rolny; Andrius Kazlauskas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Molecular medicine; PDGF-BB; VEGF; angiogenesis; hypoxia; migration; heparin; Molekylärmedicin; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; Molecular Medicine; molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ;

    Sammanfattning : The mature vascular system is composed of a network of blood vessels organized into arteries, capillaries, and veins. The vessels are composed of endothelial cells surrounded by smooth muscle cells and embedded in a specialized basement membrane. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Genotyping and Mutation Detection In Situ : Development and application of single-molecule techniques

    Författare :Ida Grundberg; Mats Nilsson; Ulf Landegren; Olli-Pekka Kallioniemi; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : The human body is composed of trillions of cells closely working together to maintain a functional organism. Every cell is unique in molecular composition and can acquire genetic variations that might cause it to turn pathological. LÄS MER
