  1. 1. Ligand binding and enzyme catalysis studied by molecular dynamics simulations

    Författare :Tomas Hansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; molecular dynamics simulation; free energy; linear response; drug design; empirical valence bond; HIV protease; protein tyrosine phosphatase; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Molecular dynamics simulations and free energy calculations can be applied to biomolecular systems to predict ligand binding affinities. Combined with hybrid quantum-classical potential energy surfaces, such computations can also be used to probe enzymatic catalysis mechanisms. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Visualizing Interacting Biomolecules In Situ

    Författare :Irene Weibrecht; Ola Söderberg; Ulf Landegren; Banafshe Larijani; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; proximity ligation; in situ PLA; padlock probe; rolling circle amplification; flow cytometry; in situ; single cell; single molecule; protein interaction; protein-DNA interaction; posttranslational modification; Molecular medicine; Molekylär medicin; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Intra- and intercellular information is communicated by posttranslational modifications (PTMs) and protein-protein interactions, transducing information over cell membranes and to the nucleus. A cells capability to respond to stimuli by several highly complex and dynamic signaling networks provides the basis for rapid responses and is fundamental for the cellular collaborations required in a multicellular organism. 3. 3. Molecular Interaction in Aqueous Solutions : Effects of Temperature and Solutes on Surface Structure and Hydrogen Bonding in Water

    Författare :Clara-Magdalena Saak; Carl Caleman; Olle Björneholm; Nicusor Timneanu; Edwin Kukk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Intermolecular forces in liquids can give rise to complex emergent structures, particularly in water, where hydrogen bonding causes the formation of extended networks, and surfaces, where intermolecular structures can be distinctly different from the bulk, leading to unique properties and behaviours. While such structures have been studied in detail, it is still relatively unknown how such structures respond and adapt to external changes to their environment. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Molecular properties of disordered plant dehydrins : Membrane interaction and function in stress

    Författare :Sylvia Eriksson; Pia Harryson; Steffen Graether; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; abiotic stress; dehydrin; intrinsically disordered proteins; Lea-proteins; phospholipids; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Dehydrins are intrinsically disordered plant stress-proteins. Repetitively in their sequence are some highly conserved stretches of 7-17 residues, the so called K-, S-, Y- and lysine rich segments. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Modulators of Vibrio cholerae predator interaction and virulence

    Författare :Barbro Lindmark; Sun Nyunt Wai; Kristian Riesbeck; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vibrio cholerae; Caenorhabditis elegans; PrtV; outer membrane vesicles; non-O1 non-O139; serum resistance; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Vibrio cholerae, the causal agent of cholera typically encodes two critical virulence factors: cholera toxin (CT), which is primarily responsible for the diarrhoeal purge, and toxin-co-regulated pilus (TCP), an essential colonisation factor. Nontoxigenic strains expressing TCP can efficiently acquire the CT gene through lysogenic conversion with CTXΦ, a filamentous phage that encodes CT and uses TCP as a receptor. LÄS MER
