  1. 21. Next generation molecular diagnostics using ultrasensitive sequencing

    Författare :Stefan Filges; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Liquid biopsy; cell-free DNA; circulating tumor DNA; molecular diagnostics; next-generation sequencing; unique molecular identifiers; melanoma;

    Sammanfattning : Massively parallel sequencing enables the exploration of the genetic heterogeneity within microbial, viral and tumor cell populations. Detecting circulating tumor DNA in blood and other body fluids has the potential to revolutionize molecular diagnostics. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Molecular Phylogenetics of Mammals

    Författare :Morgan Kullberg; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; EST; divergence times; phylogenomics; phylogenetic reconstruction; Mammals; Eutheria; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the phylogenetic relationships of the Mammalia have been studied at various levels. Different sources of genetic information have been evaluated and used as phylogenetic markers. These include the well-known mitochondrial genome, cDNA from housekeeping genes and expressed sequence tags from nuclear genes. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Jack of all trades, master of none : the multifaceted nature of H3K36 methylation

    Författare :Henrik Lindehell; Jan Larsson; Anders Byström; Peter B. Becker; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; H3K36; histone methylation; dosage compensation; chromosome-specific gene regulation; transposable elements; PIWI piRNA biosynthesis; Set2; Ash1; NSD; Histone 3.3; post-translational modifications; histone modifications; epigenetics; proximity ligation assay; Drosophila; Genetics; genetik; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; Biopharmaceutics; biofarmaci;

    Sammanfattning : Post-translational modifications of histones enable differential transcriptional control of the genome between cell types and developmental stages, and in response to environmental factors. The methylation of Histone 3 Lysine 36 (H3K36) is one the most complex and well-studied histone modifications and is known to be involved in a wide range of molecular processes. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Postglacial Population History of the Common Shrew (Sorex araneus) in Fennoscandia : Molekylära studier av återkolonisation, könsbundet genflöde och kromosomrasbildning

    Författare :Anna-Carin Andersson; Håkan Tegelström; Cecilia Alström-Rapaport; Jeremy B Searle; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular genetics; Sorex araneus; chromosome race; postglacial recolonisation; hybrid zone; sex-biased gene flow; chromosomal evolution; Genetik; Genetics; Genetik;

    Sammanfattning : The common shrew, Sorex araneus, has one of the most variable karyotypes among mammals, displaying numerous chromosomes races throughout its distribution, which can be categorized into different karyotypic groups. The objective of this thesis was to examine the postglacial population history of Fennoscandian common shrews using autosomal microsatellites, mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and a Y chromosome specific microsatellite (L8Y). 5. 25. The Functional Significance and Chromatin Organisation of the Imprinting Control Regions of the H19 and Kcnq1 Genes

    Författare :Meena Kanduri; Rolf Ohlsson; Karl Ekwall; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular genetics; DNA methylation; Imprinting control region; Chromatin; Insulator; Nucleosome positioning; Genetik; Genetics; Genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Genomic imprinting is a phenomenon through which a subset of genes are epigenetically marked during gemtogenisis. This mark is maintained in the soma to often manifest parent of origin-specific monoalleleic expresson patterns. LÄS MER
