1. The Chemistry of Plutonium Solubility
Sammanfattning : When designing a repository for spent nuclear fuel it is necessary to assess the possibility that radionuclides will be transported from the repository by groundwater. A limiting factor for such transport is the solubility of any given radionuclide. LÄS MER
2. Subject-specific musculoskeletal modeling of the lower extremities in persons with unilateral cerebral palsy
Sammanfattning : The computational musculoskeletal models that are used to study muscle moment-generating capacities of persons with movement disorders and planning treatment options must be accurate, and take into account the inter-individual variability of musculoskeletal geometry. In Paper I the methods of creating the subject-specific musculoskeletal model of the lower extremities from magnetic resonance images (MRIs) were developed. LÄS MER
3. Mathematical modeling of the human smooth pursuit system
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis concerns mathematical modeling and identification of the the human smooth pursuit system (SPS) and the application of the models to motor symptom quantification in Parkinson's disease (PD).The SPS is a complex neuromuscular system governing smooth pursuit eye movements (SPEM), and the task is to keep a moving target in the visual field. 4. Retarded sorption in wood : experimental study, analyses and modeling
Sammanfattning : Models of moisture flow processes in wood are normally based on a Fickian approach. In many instances, there are considerable discrepancies between modelling and experimental results. It is shown in this thesis that a major cause for these discrepancies is a so-called retarded sorption which is not accounted for in conventional theories. LÄS MER
5. Information Integration in Perception and Cognition : Exploring the Perception-Cognition Gap
Sammanfattning : Much research in both perceptual inference and cognitive inference has focused on how well human performance fares against what is considered the most optimal or rational thing to do. The verdict, however, differs between the fields. LÄS MER
