  1. 6. Investigating Communicative Feedback Phenomena across Languages and Modalities

    Författare :Loredana Sundberg Cerrato; David House; Marianne Gullberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Linguistics; Lingvistik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with human communicative behaviour related to feedback, analysed across languages (Italian and Swedish), modalities (auditory versus visual) and different communicative situations (human-human versus human-machine dialogues). The aim of this study is to give more insight into how humans use communicative behaviour related to feedback and at the same time to suggest a method to collect valuable data that can be useful to control facial and head movements related to visual feedback in synthetic conversational agents. 2. 7. Cardiac Performance, Ventricular-Vascular Interaction and Functional Alterations in Rheumatic Mitral Stenosis : A descriptive study employing novel hemodynamic and echocardiographic modalities

    Författare :Ashwin Venkateshvaran; Lars-Åke Brodin; Per Lindquist; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tillämpad medicinsk teknik; Applied Medical Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The assessment of LV performance poses significant challenges in the setting of rheumatic mitral stenosis (MS) owing to an inherently load-altered state. A detailed characterization of arterial-ventricular coupling between subjects with isolated post-capillary pulmonary hypertension (Ipc-PH) and combined pre- and post-capillary pulmonary hypertension (Cpc-PH) has not been described. 3. 8. Treatment Modalities for Pelvic Girdle Pain in Pregnant Women

    Författare :Helen Elden; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pelvic girdle pain; pregnancy; acupuncture; non-penetrating sham acupuncture; stabilising exercises; randomised controlled trial.;

    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: Pelvic girdle pain (PGP) affects about 20% of pregnant women. It causes great suffering for the individual and high costs for society. Persisting PGP have been reported in 10 to 75% three months after pregnancy and some women have also stated that PGP has been the beginning of a chronic condition. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Electromechanical effects and optimization modalities of cardiac resynchronization therapy

    Författare :Cinzia Valzania; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cardiac resynchronization therapy; coronary blood flow; dyssynchrony; echocardiography; exercise; heart failure; hemodynamics; intracardiac electrogram; intracardiac impedance; optimization;

    Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Heart failure is a major health care problem, with high morbidity and mortality rates. In recent years, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) has become an established additive treatment for patients with advanced heart failure, left ventricular (LV) dysfunction, and wide QRS complex.     Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; income inequality; social transfers; HIV; crime; fertility; social protection; aid; aid modalities; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The dissertation consists of an introductory chapter and four separate articles. Two of the articles investigate the links between income inequality and two increasingly salient development problems, particularly in Latin America and Africa: violent crime and HIV. LÄS MER
