  1. 6. Repair of divided peripheral nerves : experimental studies in rabbit and rat

    Författare :Barbara Lutz; Pietro Giovanoli; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to provide new knowledge, through experimental studies, that may contribute to an improvement of the results after microsurgical peripheral nerve repair in patients.An adequate function of the human body depends, among other things, on a correctly functioning peripheral nervous system. 2. 7. Genotoxic effects of systemic chemotherapy in cancer patients, with special focus on the relation between MSI, LOH and development of secondary cancers

    Författare :Nasir K. Kamat; Ulf Rannug; Giovanni Corso; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemotherapy; Genetic instability; Microsatellites instability; Loss of heterozygosity; Mismatch repair; molekylärgenetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic chemotherapy results in both phenotypic and genotypic side effects. Genotoxicity posed by chemotherapy is a major concern since it induces DNA damage and instability in the patients’ genome. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Genetic factors in childhood cancer. Associations between tumors in childhood and adulthood, and prevalence of germline TP53 mutations

    Författare :Susanne Magnusson; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Childhood cancer; hereditary factors; breast cancer; survival; hereditary breast and ovarian cancer; hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer; familial malignant melanoma; BRCA1; BRCA2; mismatch repair; CDKN2A; familial risk; multiple childhood tumors; Li-Fraumeni syndrome; TP53; adrenocortical carcinoma; choroid plexus tumors; rhabdomyosarcoma;

    Sammanfattning : The etiology of childhood cancer is largely unknown. Approximately 1-10% of all childhood tumors are associated with known cancer predisposition syndromes. However, the contribution may be underestimated due to the failure to detect patients with genetic susceptibility for cancer when relying on known family pattern and anomalies. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Towards improved management of Lynch syndrome; ovarian cancer profiles, risk perception, knowledge and family perspectives

    Författare :Katarina Bartuma; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ovarian cancer; Lynch syndrome; family relations; communication; interview; genetic knowledge; risk perception; questionnaire; gene expression profiling; array CGH; hereditary breast and ovarian cancer; mismatch repair;

    Sammanfattning : Lynch syndrome (hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer) is one of the most common hereditary cancer syndromes and predisposes to several cancer types, including cancer of the colorectum, endometrium and ovaries. Cancer develops at an early age and one third of the individuals are affected by a metachronous cancer. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Thymidylate synthase expression and mismatch repair protein expression in colorectal cancer

    Författare :Katarina Öhrling; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The tumour, node, metastasis (TNM) system, with the current staging and risk stratification methods for prognostication in colorectal cancer (CRC) has its limitations. The need for additional validated prognostic and predictive markers is particularly important in CRC stage II and III as some of these patients can be cured by surgery alone. LÄS MER
