  1. 1. Spatial sampling and prediction

    Författare :Lina Schelin; Sara Sjöstedt-de Luna; Silvelyn Zwanzig; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Auxiliary variables; Censoring; Inclusion probabilities; Kriging; Local pivotal method; Minimum detection limit; Prediction intervals; Representative sample; Spatial process; Spatial sampling; Semiparametric bootstrap; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses two aspects of spatial statistics: sampling and prediction. In spatial statistics, we observe some phenomena in space. Space is typically of two or three dimensions, but can be of higher dimension. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Spatial Vision in Bees : Behavioural investigation of spatial resolution and contrast sensitivity

    Författare :Aravin Chakravarthi; Funktionell zoologi; []
    Nyckelord :Insect vision; Honeybees; Bumblebees; Spatial resolution; Contrast sensitivity; Motion detection; Object discrimination;

    Sammanfattning : Bees use multiple sensory modalities to perform day-to-day tasks. Light allows them to perceive objects and the general features of their surroundings, enabling them to find food and to navigate safely across the landscape. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Tycho-Gaia and beyond: Combining data for precision astrometry

    Författare :Daniel Michalik; Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proper motions; parallaxes; positions; map of the Milky Way; joint solution; Gaia; detection of exo-planets; astrometry; catalogue combination; Tycho-Gaia Astrometric Solution; Hundred Thousand Proper Motion project; Fysicumarkivet A:2015:Michalik;

    Sammanfattning : Astrometry aims at producing a three-dimensional map of positions and motions of stars and other celestial bodies in a consistent coordinate system covering the whole sky. This is best done from space, which provides a way of scanning the entire sky by a single instrument in a thermally stable environment. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Gamma-Ray Emission from Galaxy Clusters : DARK MATTER AND COSMIC-RAYS

    Författare :Anders Pinzke; Lars Bergström; Olaf Reimer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Galaxy clusters; gamma-rays; cosmic-rays; dark matter; High energy astrophysics; Högenergiastrofysik; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The quest for the first detection of a galaxy cluster in the high energy gamma-ray regime is ongoing, and even though clusters are observed in several other wave-bands, there is still no firm detection in gamma-rays. To complement the observational efforts we estimate the gamma-ray contributions from both annihilating dark matter and cosmic-ray (CR) proton as well as CR electron induced emission. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Diagnosability analysis and FDI system design for uncertain systems

    Författare :Daniel Eriksson; Erik Frisk; Mattias Krysander; Alexander Medvedev; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Our society depends on advanced and complex technical systems and machines, for example, cars for transportation, industrial robots in production lines, satellites for communication, and power plants for energy production. Consequences of a fault in such a system can be severe and result in human casualties, environmentally harmful emissions, high repair costs, or economical losses caused by unexpected stops in production lines.
