  1. 1. Mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists in heart failure : exploring the gap between guideline-directed medical therapy and real-world practice

    Författare :Anna Jonsson Holmdahl; Krister Lindmark; Helena Norberg; Ellinor Bergdahl; Fredrik Valham; Niklas Bergh; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Heart failure; Mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists; estimated glomerular filtration rate; hyperkalemia; impaired renal function; worsening renal function; guideline-directed medical therapy; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : Heart failure is the possible end-result of a variety of different diseases, where ischemic heart disease and hypertension are the most common causes in high income countries. In Sweden, heart failure has a prevalence of 2% in the adult population and rises to over 10% among people over 70 years of age. The 5-year all-cause mortality is about 50%. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Aspects on heart failure and drug treatment in geriatric patients

    Författare :Marianne Reimers Wessberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Patients with chronic heart failure (HF) are very common in geriatric care, but the prevalence of different types of HF and comorbidities, as well as the nature of investigations, treatment, planning and outcome in this patient group are less well known. The overall aim of this thesis was to assess central aspects of geriatric care such as strategies for drug changes and in particular, investigations and treatment strategies for geriatric patients with HF prior to and during geriatric care. 3. 3. Drug safety and effectiveness in relation to kidney function : a pharmacoepidemiological approach

    Författare :Marco Trevisan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Kidney function plays an important role in drug safety and effectiveness. As many medications are excreted by the kidneys, patients with reduced kidney function are at a higher risk of supra-therapeutic or toxic drug levels. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Heart failure : studies of prognosis and advanced therapy

    Författare :Tonje Thorvaldsen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Heart failure (HF) is a major health problem affecting 2-3% of the Western population. The clinical syndrome of HF is associated with reduced (HFrEF) or preserved (HFpEF) ejection fraction. Around 50% of the patients have HFrEF and despite advances in treatment, prognosis remains poor and treatments are underutilized. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Prognostication in heart failure across ejection fraction phenotypes and challenging subgroups : data from the Swedish heart failure registry

    Författare :Davide Stolfo; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The growing prevalence of heart failure (HF) worldwide determines an increasing burden on healthcare systems. HF phenotypes differ for several patient characteristics. LÄS MER
