  1. 1. Measuring occupational dust exposure with a passive sampler

    Författare :Mariam Shirdel; Ingvar Bergdahl; Britt Andersson; Håkan Wingfors; Christer Johansson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dust particles; mineral; PM10; PM2.5; respirable fraction; UNC passive aerosol sampler; working environment;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives: In a working environment it is important to measure dust exposure to evaluate possible health issues. Passive sampling could be an alternative to active sampling with pumps when measuring occupational dust exposure. One passive sampler is the University of North Carolina passive aerosol sampler (UNC sampler). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Reconstruction of Holocene atmospheric mineral dust deposition from raised peat bogs in south–central Sweden

    Författare :Jenny Sjöström; Malin Kylander; Jonatan Klaminder; Martina Hättestrand; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mineral dust; paleodust; peat; Sweden; Holocene; mineralogy; XRD;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric mineral dust plays a dynamic role in the climate system acting both as a forcing and a feedback mechanism. To date, the majority of paleodust studies have been conducted on marine sediments or polar ice cores, while terrestrial deposition has been less studied. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Provenance of the pre-Quaternary aeolian dust deposits of East Asia

    Författare :Katja Bohm; Thomas Stevens; Anu Kaakinen; Alex Pullen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chinese Loess Plateau; Red Clay; mineral dust; sediment provenance; detrital zircon; detrital rutile; Neogene; Paleogene; Earth Science with specialization in Physical Geography; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric mineral dust is a key component in the climate system, but its effect on and response to climate changes are poorly understood, especially over long timescales. This thesis investigates the sources of late Paleogene and Neogene dust deposits that formed under warmer-than-present global climates in the northern Chinese Loess Plateau (CLP) region in mid-latitude East Asia. 4. 4. Transport of mineral dust into the Arctic : Evaluation of two reanalysis datasets of atmospheric composition

    Författare :Sebastian Böö; Annica M. L. Ekman; Adam Kristensson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arktis; transport; damm; återanalys; reanalys; aerosol; meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this thesis is to examine the mineral dust aerosol transport into the Arctic. Two three-dimensional reanalysis datasets of atmospheric composition, the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service reanalysis (CAMSRA) and the Modern-Era Retrospective Analysis for Research and Applications, version 2 (MERRA-2), are analyzed with regard to dust transport into the Arctic. 5. 5. Modelling optical properties of morphologically complex aerosols

    Författare :Franz Kanngiesser; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; remote sensing; sea salt; black carbon; aerosol; scattering; mineral dust.; depolarisation;

    Sammanfattning : The interpretation of remote sensing data of atmospheric aerosol particles requires a thorough understanding of the links between microphysical and optical properties. Morphologically complex aerosol models describe the particles’ morphology in detail. LÄS MER
