6. Efficient modeling and control of crushing processes in minerals processing
Sammanfattning : Modeling and simulation is a tool to explore and increase the understanding of a phenomenon. This thesis focuses on developing models of crushers and equipment used in the mining industry. Specifically, the focus is on a branch of modeling called time dynamic modeling which is a model that gives an output as a function of time. LÄS MER
7. Bringing predictability into a geometallurgical program : An iron ore case study
Sammanfattning : The risks of starting, operating and closing mining projects have become higher than ever. In order to stay ahead of the competition, mining companies have to manage various risks: technical, environmental, legal, regulatory, political, cyber, financial and social. Some of these can be mitigated with the help of geometallurgy. LÄS MER
8. Sulphide mineral flotation : a new insight into oxidation mechanisms
Sammanfattning : Formation of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), an oxidizing agent stronger than oxygen, by sulphide minerals during grinding was investigated. It was found that pyrite (FeS2), chalcopyrite (CuFeS2), sphalerite ((Zn,Fe)S), and galena (PbS), which are the most abundant sulphide minerals on Earth, generated H2O2 in pulp liquid during wet grinding in the presence or devoid of dissolved oxygen in water and also when the freshly ground solids are placed in water immediately after dry grinding. 9. Applications of Dynamic Modeling in Crushing Plants
Sammanfattning : Modeling is a tool to describe phenomena in a simplified way, and the models can then be used to simulate these phenomena. Models of equipment used in the mining and aggregate industries can be used for process simulations of the processes in those industries to improve the operations. LÄS MER
10. Optimization Framework for Crushing Plants
Sammanfattning : Optimization is a decision-making process to utilize available resources efficiently. The use of optimization methods provide opportunities for continuous improvements, increasing competitiveness, trade-off analysis and as a support tool for the decision-making process in industrial applications.
