  1. 1. Studies of the fibre direction and local bending stiffness of Norway spruce timber : for application on machine strength grading

    Författare :Min Hu; Marie Johansson; Mats Ekevad; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; digital image correlation; diving angle; fibre angle; grain angle; indicating property; laser scanning; modulus of elasticity; tracheid effect; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Machine strength grading is a production process in the sawmill industry used to grade sawn timber boards into different strength classes with specific characteristic values of the bending strength, modulus of elasticity (MOE) and density. These properties are called grade determining properties. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Local variation in bending stiffness in structural timber of Norway spruce : for the purpose of strength grading

    Författare :Min Hu; Marie Johansson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; digital image correlation; fibre angle; high resolution; laser scanning; local stiffness; MOE profile; mode shape curvature; strain field; strength grading; structural timber; tracheid effect; Digital image correlation; fibervinkel; laserskanning; lokal styvhet; MOE-profil; töjningsfält; hållfasthetssortering; konstruktionsvirke; trakeideffekt; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Most strength grading machines on the European market use an averagemodulus of elasticity (MOE), estimated on a relatively large distance along awood member, as the indicating property (IP) to bending strength. Theaccuracy of such grading machines in terms of coefficient of determination israther low at R2 ≈ 0.5. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modulation of acetylcholine release by serotonergic 5-HT1A and 5-HT1B receptors : a microdialysis study in the awake rat

    Författare :Xiao Jing Hu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Microdialysis; Acetylcholine; Serotonin; 5-HT1A receptor; 5-HT1B receptor; Frontal cortex; Ventral hippocampus;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis was to investigate the effects of the 5-HT1A receptor antagonist robalzotan (NAD-299) and the 5-HT1B receptor antagonist NAS-181 ((R)-(+)-2-(3-morpholinomethyl-2Hchromen-8-yl) oxymethyl-morpholine methanesulfonate) on cholinergic, glutamatergic and GABAergic neurotransmission in the rat brain in vivo. The extracellular levels of acetylcholine (ACh), glutamate (Glu) and GABA were monitored by microdialysis in the frontal cortex (FC) and ventral hippocampus (VHipp) in separate groups of awake rats. 4. 4. Grain growth by Ordered Coalescence of crystallites in Ceramics : Grain Growth Mechanisms, Microstructure Evolution and Sintering

    Författare :Jianfeng Hu; Zhijian James Shen; Jekabs Grins; Viveka Alfredsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Grain growth and densification process play the two most crucial roles on the microstructure evolution and the achieved performances during sintering of ceramics. In this thesis, the grain growth of SrTiO3, BaTiO3-SrTiO3 solid solutions and Si3N4 ceramics during spark plasma sintering (SPS) were investigated by electron microscopy. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Exploring and visualizing biological and pathological processes in living cells are useful for both fundamental research and applications. An understanding on the molecular level for these processes with focus on tracking biomarkers, collecting information about their surroundings, and uncovering essential molecular pathways and functions in live cells are of vital interest for cell biological study and clinical diagnosis application.
