  1. 16. Controlled release gel formulations and preclinical screening of drug candidates

    Författare :Tofeeq Ur-Rehman; Gerhard Gröbner; Mikael Elofsson; Åsa Gylfe; Martin Malmsten; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; poloxamer; drug delivery; micellization; DMSO; calorimetry; NMR. in situ gelation; chitosan; preclinical pharmacokinetics; type III secretion inhibitors; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Pharmaceutics; galenisk farmaci;

    Sammanfattning : Simple gel formulations may be applied to enhance the systemic and local exposure of potential compounds. The aim of this thesis is the development and characterization of controlled release formulations based on thermo-reversible poloxamer gels, which are suitable for novel drug delivery applications. 2. 17. Glycoconjugates : Solid-phase synthesis and biological applications

    Författare :Fredrik Wallner; Mikael Elofsson; Jan Kihlberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Glycoconjugate; Glycolipid; Solid-phase synthesis; Glycosylation; Gel-phase 19F-NMR spectroscopy; Fluorinated linker; Carbohydrat array; CD1; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Glycoconjugates are biologically important molecules with diverse functions. They consist of carbohydrates of varying size and complexity, attached to a non-sugar moiety as a lipid or a protein. Glycoconjugate structures are often very complex and their intricate biosynthetic pathways makes overexpression difficult. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Small Molecules as Tools in Biological Chemistry : Effects of Synthetic and Natural Products on the Type III Secretion System

    Författare :Caroline E. Zetterström; Mikael Elofsson; Samuel I. Miller; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Type III secretion; salicylidene acylhydrazide; virulence-blocker; virulence; inhibitor; target identification; neohopeaphenol A; Yersinia pseudotuberculosis; Pseudomonas aeruginosa; Escherichia coli; biologisk kemi; biological chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The increasing use of antibiotics has led to a huge problem for society, as some bacteria have developed resistance towards many of the antibiotics currently available. To help find solutions to this problem we studied small molecules that inhibit bacterial virulence, the ability to cause disease. LÄS MER
