  1. 11. Atmospheric corrosion of zinc-aluminum and copper-based alloys in chloride-rich environments : Microstructure, corrosion initiation, patina evolution and metal release

    Författare :Xian Zhang; Inger Odnevall Wallinder; Christofer Leygraf; Manuel Morcillo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :atmospheric corrosion; chloride deposition; Zn-Al alloy coatings on steel microstructure; Cu sheet and Cu alloys; microstructure; corrosion initiation; corrosion product evolution; metal release; SEM; IRAS; CRM.; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Fundamental understanding of atmospheric corrosion mechanisms requires an in-depth understanding on the dynamic interaction between corrosive constituents and metal/alloy surfaces. This doctoral study comprises field and laboratory investigations that assess atmospheric corrosion and metal release processes for two different groups of alloys exposed in chloride-rich environments. 2. 12. A Study On Factor Influencing the Microstructure and Shrinkage Porosity Formation in Compacted Graphite Iron

    Författare :Sadaf Vazehrad; Pär Jönsson; Attila Dioszegi; Steve Dawson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CGI; LGI; SGI; Solidification; Microstructure; Shrinkage porosity; Eutectic colony; Microsegregation;

    Sammanfattning : During the last decades, an intensive effort has been dedicated to introduce compacted graphite iron (CGI) for truck engine components as its intermediate graphite morphology provides an increased tensile property compared to lamellar cast iron (LGI) and a better thermal conductivity compared to nodular cast iron (SGI). However, the narrow production technology window in this cast iron grade requires increased technological discipline. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Microstructure and Fatigue Analysis of PM-HIPed Alloys : A Focus on Inconel 625 and High-Nitrogen Tool Steel

    Författare :Faezeh Javadzadeh Kalahroudi; Mikael Grehk; Mattias Calmunger; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; powder metallurgy; hot isostatic pressing; Inconel 625; high-nitrogen tool steel; microstructure; fatigue behavior; inclusions; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Nickel-based superalloys and tool steels are well-known high-performance alloys due to their extensive use in many different industries. Nickel-based superalloys have found their way into aircraft, aerospace, marine, chemical, and petrochemical industries owing to their excellent high-temperature corrosion and oxidation resistance. 4. 14. Defect Formation during Solidification in Grey Iron Castings

    Författare :Lennart Elmquist; Ingvar Svensson; Attila Diószegi; Doru Stefanescu; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Shrinkage Porosity; Grey Iron; Solidification; Nucleation; Primary Austenite; DAAS; Eutectic Cells; Microstructure; Macrostructure; Hot Spot; Oxygen; Hydrogen; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The presence of defects is of major concern in the production of grey iron castings. Some defects are merely an aesthetic problem while others can be detrimental for the performance of the component. Among the several possible defects, shrinkage porosity is one of the more challenging to understand and avoid. LÄS MER

  5. 15. The Microstructure of Metal Oxide Additive Silicon Nitride Ceramics

    Författare :Maria Knutson Wedel; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microstructure; SEM; HIP; TEM; ZrO2; Si3N4;

    Sammanfattning : This work is concerned with Si3N4 ceramics fabricated with different metal oxide additives, viz. Y2O3, Al2O3, ZrO2 and ZrO2(+3 mol% Y2O3), which have been densified by hot isostatic pressing (HIP). LÄS MER
