6. Modelling the time-dependent, damage and fracture mechanical properties of load-bearing soft biological tissues
Sammanfattning : Load-carrying soft biological tissues exhibit a wide range of complex time-dependent, damage, and fracture mechanical properties. An effective comprehension of such behaviour is advantageous in characterising tolerance to injury and can provide valuable insights regarding the incidence and progression of certain diseases. 7. Continuum modelling of work hardening in precipitation hardened alloys
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with prediction of macroscopic work hardening in a precipitation hardened alloy. The focus is on the particle contribution. A hierarchical modelling approach is adopted where work hardening in a representative material volume on the microscale is homogenized and used to represent the macroscopic hardening. LÄS MER
8. On the multiscale modeling of duplex stainless steel
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the modeling and simulation ofthe influence of the material substructure on the macroscopicmechanical properties of duplex stainless steel (DSS). Twosubscale levels and their interaction are considered: Grainstructure (mesoscale) and crystallographic structure (microscale). LÄS MER
9. Modeling of material behavior in metal forming
Sammanfattning : With an increasing demand to improve efficiency and to cut costs, the industry is constantly seeking to reduce the time and money spent in product development and manufacturing. Use of computer-based simulations has become more or less a standard tool to meet this demand. LÄS MER
10. Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar for Sea Ice Observations, Concentration and Dynamics
Sammanfattning : Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is the primary choice for sea ice monitoring due to its all-weather, day-and-night capability and regular delivery of high resolution images. This thesis presents methods for estimation of sea ice concentration and drift, a multi-sensor study of Baltic Sea ice radar signatures and an interferometric study of landfast sea ice. LÄS MER
