11. Image Analysis for Trabecular Bone Properties on Cone-Beam CT Data
Sammanfattning : Trabecular bone structure as well as bone mineral density (BMD) have impact on the biomechanical competence of bone. In osteoporosis-related fractures, there have been shown to exist disconnections in the trabecular network as well as low bone mineral density. Imaging of bone parameters is therefore of importance in detecting osteoporosis. LÄS MER
12. Optimizing Performance in Highly Utilized Multicores with Intelligent Prefetching
Sammanfattning : Modern processors apply sophisticated techniques, such as deep cache hierarchies and hardware prefetching, to increase performance. Such complex hardware structures have helped improve performance in general, however, their full potential is not realized as software often utilizes the memory hierarchy inefficiently. LÄS MER
13. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor and endocannabinoid functions in gabaergic interneuron development
Sammanfattning : Formation of the cerebral cortex is controlled by tightly regulated processes: the proliferation and survival decisions of neural progenitors, radial and tangential migration of neuronal precursors, axon guidance and dendritic growth underpinning the formation of synapses. Patterning of the neocortex has been extensively studied and significant progress has been made in understanding the principles of cortical neuronal circuit formation. LÄS MER
14. Adaptive Computing based on FPGA Run-time Reconfigurability
Sammanfattning : In the past two decades, FPGA has been witnessed from its restricted use as glue logic towards real System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms. Profiting from the great development on semiconductor and IC technologies, the programmability of FPGAs enables themselves wide adoption in all kinds of aspects of embedded designs. LÄS MER
15. A prospective chohort study on bone formation and bone loss in ankylosing spondylitis
Sammanfattning : Background and objectives: Patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) have an increased risk of bone loss with development of osteoporosis and vertebral fractures (VFs) but also spinal new bone formation with growth of bony spurs (syndesmophytes) between the vertebrae. Measurements of spinal bone mineral density (BMD) by the routine method dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in anteroposterior (AP) projection can be difficult to interpret due to the spinal new bone formation.
